Default TPS problem? engine reving way to high by itself... Help

Well I decided to go ahead and do the last part of my TB porting the other day, I intended to fill in those little valleys in the back with JB weld. I started to do it but the Weld was way too liquidity and it wasn't working so I said F it and cleaned it up. Now my car doesn't know how to rev right. If I drive it the car trys to rev to about 2500 or so, when I stop the car jumps to 3k and slowly backs down. I tried disconecting the TPS sensor, and the other connection on the top of the TB but it still does it.

Ideas? Bad TPS sensor?

I checked the Blade with the Maf etc. removed and it snaps back into place just fine. So I don't think it is that,

any likely places to check for a vacuum leak? or do I just need to start pulling hoses?

I had that problem once when I reinstalled my TB. I pulled the wires off then reconnected the wires and it was fine.

Any SES codes? What does ATAP show the IAC and TPS are at when you're at idle?

I had this problem when me and my friend did my intake swap...my revved up to about 4000 grand though and I didn't even have to give it any gas in like 3 gear and it would take off..but my problem was some of the pins on the TPS harness were pushed up inside and not making proper contact with the sensor...try checking that out...or do you have a spare TB with sensors on it to try???

I had that problem when my battery went dead once, when I started it it revved really high and took forever to come back down, I let it run a little while and restarted it a few times and it was gone, sounds the same, must be electrical!

Ditto - mine was doing that for the last 2 weeks. Finally, last Friday night the battery died. After a new battery, perfect running car again. I read the engine can go into a different mode if it detects a weak electrical signal.

I don't have an autotap( need to borrow friends) but as far as SES I have a intermittant SES due to a misfire reading from the cam. So it's hard to tell.

if it was a bad TPS would'nt removing the connection to it change something?

update, the IAC works like a little plunger, when the comp actuates it the tip extends or retracts and blocks off(or opens up) the little hole in the TB right?

If this is how it operates then I think I found the problem. Looks like I had some residual weldon from my failed attempt to fill the cavities, and it looks like when the comp wants to seal that whole it can't, and air still enters raising forcing the car to rev higher.

Can anyone confirm this?

ok another update, I'm not sure if anyone is reading these but at least I can keep track of it this way

I cleaned all the excess material around the area where the IAC plunger goes into, I put the car back together and.... same problem.

When I first messed with the TB (2 weeks ago maybe) the car only revved a little bit higher than normal, but the last few days it got really bad. So I think that before it was closing as much as it could do to the excess weldon, but because it kept trying to close all the way the motor blew out. Once the motor blew out the problem got really bad because the IAC is open all the time. This is also confirmed because when I unplug the wires to the unit there is no change in the car.

make sense?

assassin your problem was that the battery was just reconnected and the computer was just relearning. to solve that you just need to start and stop your car acouple times

Yes the IAC works like a plunger.

sounds like the IAC motor is damaged or the cable is bad if unplugging makes no difference.
