I have a 1998 z28 with almost 100,000 miles. I want to change from regular motor oil to synthetic. What is the correct way to convert to synthetic motor oil?

Just do a normal oil change, that's it. I think it's a myth that you can't change after so many miles. Motors with looser tolerances than the LS1 might have oil leak issues but I don't think you will. There are wide opinions on oil types and such, try looking in the General Maintenance section. And I mean strong OPINIONS! Mine is that you can't hurt anything by changing your oil.

Dont just switch all the sudden like that.
Next oil change put a synthetic blend, then after that put a full synthetic.
I recommend Pennzoil Platinum or Valvoline Synpower. They may not have the reputation like Castrol or Mobil but the oil analysis paired it pretty damn close to AMSoil.

never heard of goin to a blend first? As long as your engine isnt consuming dino oil regularly(synthetic might amplify the affects)....your good to go, open the cap and pour her in!

I use Amsoil 10W30
I swapped to Castrol 10W40 in my 89 Big Block, nice smooth and quiet.
even with 90,000 miles.
