Eastern Members - Looking for a couple 10 sec. timeslips this weekend!

Well, I was convinced at the Sept. 5th track rental to take some weight out of the car and it will go faster. I emptied the trunk that day only for my last pass of the day and it got me kicked out from NED.
So this weekend I have a huge GTO event in dirty Jersey at Atco and I prepared myself this time in search for a few 10 second time slips or at least one before getting the Major Black flag!

With all that out, an empty trunk and no skid plate I will probably still weigh in at 3800lbs.... Just imagine if I was as light as an F-body or Vette!! :devil:

Glove box might be emptied, center console might be cleaned out, little console compartment has something in it:

I can't open that little compartment anymore . My Dual aeroforce gadges are mounted in that black rubber insert where your fuses are siting.. Looks nice.. Angled up at the driver.. Most of the time people don't notice them.. Adds to the sleeper aspect of the car..

Line lock it is! Next to it in the future will be Fan switch, EWP Switch and who's knows what else....

Get rid of the floor mats and seat belts.Also make sure the gas tank is about 1/4 or so.Also don't eat anything for 2-3 days before going.Every ounce helps......

Hey, good luck down there. I was rained out yesterday but going to next weds track rental. I dont remember if you have cats if not dont forget to get 3 gal. of 116 at the track. If you do have cats at least throw some 104 in it. Did you clean your air filter? No oil or very little. Don was right about that one. Have fun

Nice, good luck man. If you manage to remove 200+lbs, I think you will be pretty close. I'm sure that passenger seat must weigh 40-50lbs right there.

good luck speedy. Hey my ss doesnt exactly weigh in light. Last time i went with a 1/4 of a tank and me in it the car weighed 3750.

I blew out the dirt in the air filter two weeks ago so it's all set for now. Race fuel makes the car run way too fat, even with 93 octane in 4th gear WOT AFR is 10.8-11.1 ish. Floor mats might come out, seat belts will most likely be staying...LoL

After this event I don't think I'll be doing much weight reduction... damn safety equipment... Just more strength and more power! :devil:

I see sound insulation that needs to be ripped out. If you have time, pull the carpet up and rip all that crap off, that's another 20 lbs of shit. Carpet will look fine with it off too, so don't worry about that. Floormats, center console can come out too, so can the seatbelts.

You still have 50 lbs left to take out, if you are up to it :)

After this event everything is going back in, then over the winter I am probably adding another 70rwhp or so... It'll then be a consistant 10 second car from there I am sure even at 4000lbs!

I'm glad I was talked out of the Vette, they're too common compared to the GTO. I am happy with the final decision. I'll take the rarity, time, blood and sweat I put into this car! Not much beats that... and besides there are plenty of 10 sec Vettes out there, the GTO's not quite as many and Definitely only a few locally. Chances are I'll be the 6 speed one around for a bit! I hope anyhow.... Now if it were a C6 that's be a different story! :D

:jest: too common, are you fucking serious. Gto's are ZERO special, it made a good winter car though. :jest: There arent alot of 10 second gtos because no one buys them or wants to mod them. Plus they weigh 4000 pounds and have crap rears (like a vette). Speedy i like you but dont be dulusional. There is no comparison between a vette an a gto. A c6 is nothing special over a c5 (visually anyway)

Good luck with the 10's though. Although once you put all the crap back in its right back to the 11's and even less on the street so wants the point? Get into the 10's full weight full street an thats saying something. Marcels drove there as is, went 10's and drove home, but thats common according to you :jest:

nah speedys got his opinion even though its skewed and retarded, and i was stating mine. 10 second vettes are not common and he knows it. I still hope he goes 10's and gets what he wants, just didnt like him talking down about cars that outclass his and mine in everyway.

Out classed or not.... is not the fact of the matter. It's me saying Vettes are all over the place in general, maybe not all 10sec cars but that's because Vettes aren't frequently modded to that extent, around here anyway. Sure me being a 26 year old kid driving a 600whp Vette would be badass, I agree. According to the guys, per Don's cookout, I'm in the "yuppie" class as it is! ;)
Anyhow, it's all beside the point.

Marcel's Vette is awesome, I considered buying it for about three weeks maybe more from the day he offered it to me. I had a buyer the same day he offered the Vette to me as well. Marcel along with a few other people talked me out of it and I am happy they did. I enjoy the GTO because it's different, because I built it and because I have already proven people wrong with it(added bonus, nothing I was trying to prove when I bought it).
If having a skewed view about the situation is what you want to call it that's cool with me, but next season with the weight back in the car a few more ponies and consistant 10s at over 4000lbs... I'll be damn happy with it. At that point do the math and think about what it would be running if it did weigh less..... :devil: Someday in the future I will have a Vette sitting beside the GTO.... who know's maybe even Marcel's! :nod:

Well it didn't all go as planned but whatever it was still a great day.

Unfortunately no 10's YET.... I did get all new Personal Bests.

Here's a just a quick run down of the day!

1st pass off the trailer 11.8 @ 122mph with a 1.67 short time.....

2nd pass a while later 11.29 @ 124 with a 1.597 short time ( all new bests)

Then the day went to Bracket Racing so I did my best and since I have no cage and they were "possibly" checking per Dial in time. So I wrote down 11.50 and took it easy off the line. I got tree'd pretty hard and started with a 1.7x 60' resulting in a 11.6X @ 122mph... My day was over, but this race kept my buddy Anthony in the runnings which he ended up crushing my best 60' and scoring his new PB...

I'll post pic, vids and timeslips later.... Yes, It's Still time for a Cage!

I am happy with the new PB's for sure.. but I know the car will go 10.9-11.00 without nitrous or a cam. If I added either the car should go much faster than that if I can get it to hook... ;)
That would then put me on the TOP 3 in the Country that post online in the Six Speed Power Adder class. I want to do it without adding anything :devil:

As most of you know, especially considering the Sept. 5th track rental I get faster with more passes to get used to the track.... a few more and I would have had it!


BTW- Stock block, heads, cam, drive shaft, C.V shafts, Axle stubs etc.... and the GTO can't be driven or it will break... "My 04 Goat" and I continue to prove that the IRS will hold up, proving people wrong each time we line them up!!! Congrats to you as well Ben, thanks for the race! We'll do it again some time so you can "tree" me again.. :bang:
