Default Who Polishes Calipers?

Just wondering who else besides Jantzer polishes calipers. Is there a core charge associated with this? I know I read A post before where a guy will do custom decals along with the calipers but I could not find it .So I know there are other people out there. thanks

did you do them by hand or did you use an expander wheel. I polished my CME dual tips and it took me around 18 hours to get them where I wanted by hand (the casting was heavy) How much longer will it take me if the calipers are already painted and once I get the paint off is the alot of casting?

to take the paint off, I used a wire wheel on a air die grinder. Then I use either 60 grit, or 120 grit sanding drums on my dremel to remove the casting marks. Next I have 280grit pads that fit an attachment to the die grinder. After that I wetsand by hand @ 400 grit, 600 grit, and 1500 grit if neccessary...

So Joe...how long did it take per caliper to achieve those great results? Does this time include the whole caliper or just the face?

MYBLKSS , the decals were all made by a guy in my local club named Shawn. His name on our club board, http://www.ws6zxr.com/forumdisplay.p...amp;forumid=13 , is Evilface. The SS, and WS6 ones were basically custom designs the the guys wanted...

02MechamTA#2, for a entire set, I have done the backs also, it takes roughly 6-8 hours, depending on how bad the casting marks are. This time includes painting the brackets, and applying clearcoat to the calipers. It is kinda hard to clearcoat the polisjed caliper, and the clear does take away from the shine just a bit, but it does really need to be cleared as to not rust. All this time just includes the face of the caliper, and about 2 inches over the top edge. It would be too time consuming to polish the whole thing, and also basically pointless, as you would never see the rest. If you were worried about seeing the rest, the plain camaro caliper with the red came out nice as I polished like normal, then masked off the polished part and painted the rest red. It looked really nice if you were worried about it....

Let me know if you guys have any more questions....

oh yeah have either of you guys ever used eastwoods high temp clear coat on the calipers. It is made to bond to bare metal and is rated at 350 degrees but I am not sure if it will hold up.
