Default Coolant Leak

Ive got a coolant leak somewhere...

You can smell something real sweet coming from the engine bay, like pancake syrup... is there a flourescent dye that you can add to the coolant in order to find out where the leak is coming from?

usually the only way to find a coolant leak is under pressure. Get one of those radiator cap things that have a pump attatched to it. See if it holds pressure

I found a pinched overflow tube...

Other than that... the water pump LOOKS like it leaked some fluid out that way. I'll go grab some pics of it.

Bottom of the motor is a orange mess.

Can you clean up after the pinched hose to see if you're still leaking? Otherwise I'm thinking water pump gasket.

Will do. Gonna get under tomorrow and clean the bottom of the engine up. You can still smell coolant from the engine bay after driving around for a while when the engine gets hot.

Just change the water pump now. A while back I kept smelling coolant, broke out the dye and the pressurizer and nothing, not even a pinhole leak. A week later, my water pump got pretty ugly. The water pumps are known to go on these cars, so might as well just get it over with.

20 bucks says its just a gasket. The pumps on our cars are actually pretty good. This same thing happened to me about a year and a half ago. I was told (by a gm tech ) it was the pump going bad, and was leaking from the weap hole. I went and ordered a new pump and when I was replacing it I found out it was just a torn gasket. I went ahead and installed the new pump anyway though, since I already had it. Your pictures look just like mine did. It looks like its leaking on the driverside. Change the gaskets brfore you go and spend $150 on a new pump.
