Default Questions on PT76GTS single turbo build

I'm purchasing a hi-flow pt76gts single turbo kit from a forum member and I've got some questions on what would work best for my build.

Currently the car is a 347 forged bottomend with mahle pistons, compstar rods, stock crank. The car has TEA 1.5 853 heads on it, around 10.3:1 compression right now. Also has a fast 90 intake and comtech 90mm tb.

The cam that's coming with the turbo is a mid 220 duration cam, intake slightly more duration that the exhaust, .575~ lift on a 115 LSA. This worked well in the previous owners 6 liter, I'm assuming it will perform fine in my 347?

I'm thinking about selling my 853s in favor of a bigger CC head to lower the compression closer to about 9.5:1. Is going with a ported 6 liter (317) casting beneficial to me? Or should I just stick with a stock 317, stock valves, and run new springs on them to put more money towards fuel for more boost? Also trying to decide if I should sell the fast 90 in favor for an ls6/stock tb or go with a victor jr and an elbow? Would using a thicker head gasket be a good idea to help lower compression or is that overkill?

For fuel I plan on running 60 lb motron injectors, speed inc rails, aeromotive regulator, 8AN line (stock line as return), and 2 intank walbro 255s.

I want to tune the car on 91 octane, and also play with 101 octane (unleaded and available at a pump locally) at a higher boost level.

As far as tranny and rearend go, I'm thinking about selling my 4l60e in favor of a th-400. Whats a good converter to go with for it? I will probably have it built with a t-brake. Also building a 9"...I was thinking 3.50 or 3.25 gears with 28" tires. What do you guys suggest?

My goals for the car originally were 10.0s @ 135-140 and I'm thinking this can get me there pretty easily...guess we'll see!

Looks like you have the right idea. the 60e can go 135-140 with a good build. Chris went 119 in a 5880# truck with one under boost. Although the TH400 will rock under big power for a little amount of money. The 80 is the ultimate if you want to spend the beans. the cam will be fine and also the switch to the 6l heads will be worth while. the 76gts is a pretty nice unit. Just remember to not get greedy with pump gas it will bite you in the a$$ every time. lol.

Haha oh yeah I'll be real careful with the octanes. Do you think it's a better idea to run a good set of ported 6 liter heads or will stock 6 liter heads/valves with good springs perform ok? I was thinking stock with good springs and use the difference of cash on the fuel system instead.

If looking to stay under 800fwhp I would save my money and use stock 6l heads with good springs.

Say if I got ahold of some good 317 heads, used the stock valves, and threw some good springs on them...how well would the setup perform with a victor jr intake and an elbow? I've heard that intake likes boost pretty well.

Tony Mamo just put down 700 rwhp on a supercharged vette with one of his fast 90/90 combos and low boost. If your not planning on making more than 800 fwhp stick with the 90/90. Of course you could sell it and buy the victor jr and elbow and have some cash in pocket for the fuel system which would work too. There are always a ton of answers to figure out when your switching combos. No matter what you end up going with your street killer kit is gonna make lots and lots of power and look good too.
