Northwest Members - TTI Dyno Day
Turbo Tech
10-30-2007, 01:38 PM
Well now that the tracks are done for the year were going to set up a dyno day at the shop. We've not selected a day yet but are putting the word out so we can have a bunch of car/people like last year. The cost is going to be the same at 30.00 (tti forum members 25.00) first pull and hook up and 10.00 for extra run. Let us know if you interested and the best date for everyone. You can sign up on the tti forum. Thanks George (going to pomona wenesday) :D

That would be awesome.
How many people will have the weekend of the 12th of in November? I mean not on the 12th, but that weekend should be a 3 day weekend for most.
That might be a good day. I would be down for a pull or two. Just to get a base line, before I do heads and cam.

If the Pass is clear, I would venture over as long as the day doesn't conflict with class (CWU).
Do we "have" to sign up to get a pull? or can we show up day of and still pay to get on?
I'm in most likely if it's past Thanksgiving, as long as non-GM cars are invited too... I'm putting my engine in Thanksgiving weekend, so I'll need a couple weeks to get everything on it up to snuff afterwards. How much is cleanup fee?

It costs more for the A/F reading and you have to have the 02 bung. They have allowed quick tune tweaks between runs before so you're probably fine as long as you aren't spending more than a couple minutes updating the PCM.

We'll start at 9:00 were going to have a sign up clip board and the cars will run in the order signed up. I ask if your going to do any tuning (limited to quick tuning) wait until the end of the day. A/F will also be available if you have a bung installed. If no bung we also have a sniffer that works well if there is no converters. George

I'll sign up to go towards the end, however, George do you have a plug magnifier I could use? I want to check plugs for timing mark and see if a/f is what it should be, and is showing, along with heat range, so may take a minute if it's ok? Then big hit.

"He brought down the whole house," Ingraham says. "He was so into it. Anyone who thinks this guy is cold, stiff, calculating, I wish they could've seen that performance. It's as human as we can be. He was up there on a stage, entertaining, smiling, not under the influence of anything but ginger ale. It was a fabulous moment that anyone who was there will never forget because this was the guy at his happiest, with his friends and family playing rock 'n' roll."
Ah, but memories are all they have. After the show, Belichick had all video of the performance confiscated.

Last year we finished around 3:30 and we had ran about 40 cars. I'm planning on having a couple of guys to strap cars down but they start getting cranky if I keep them around much after 4:00 but we'll do out best to make sure everybody there gets a run. Buy the way David Childress ran 9.05@156 yesterday with a TTi single race system on his Pontiac!

I have never had this combo on the dyno myself. However, "Houston we have a problem". I was checking my plugs, and I have some moisture/rust on the plug in #3. The bitch is, my leak down kit is borrowed out and the guy has disappeared. I had a pleminary dyno set-up for Wed at 3:30, but know I don't know? Anyways, once I can get to the dyno we were looking at 700/800rwhp. The 300rwhp jets are allready in the 1st and 2nd stages, and 3rd stage will be reserved for blowing the motor to beat your numbers, lol. :punch: :D

Hell yea, I'll melt this bad boy down, if I have to, lol. Everything is fine, a false alarm, will be at dyno 3:30 tomorrow then on to Saturday. Only time will tell what we have for final numbers. I'll just be glad if we can avoid another trailer ride. realistically, prob be in the 700 range as we want to have the tune conservative. TR7s for tomorrow then, TR9's for Sat for insight.

Not good. The motor is fine, however, I had put a ls1 intake on to move the car around. Then this dyno day caught me with my pants down, so to speak. It's waaaay to restrictive for a big nitrous huffer and was 50rwhp down n/a, and running real rich. So no spraying till I get another intake. The a/f n/a was/is 11.7:1, and spraying my n2o set-up the way it is (rich safe) I would likely lift a ring land going with any size shot at all (to rich for spraying safely, esp big, as my dry hit is counting on the WOT PE Multiplier to command 13.x:1, then when spray hits, it's 10.5:1, so you can see how much richer it would be, like 9.0:1 or richer). So, we'll be there in the Vette, but will have to sit out the dyno pull. Maybe Ellis will give a show pushing for 700?

Sorry guys not going to make it. I have had one problem after anouther this week. Today Was all planned out. I even had room for issues.
So it started at 6:30 with a car alarm going off. nothing important just a sensor not liking the freeze we have. So while I was up I got the shop warming up.
SO I go back to bed and nap a little longer. I get up and wake up. Shower and get ready to head out to the shop. Just as I am heading out to the shop Steph asks me if I dumped water in the laundry room....
So I get the panel to the hot water heater ripped off just as it starts to spray all over....
Then spend the next few hours searching for a water heater that will fit in the hole we have to put it in. Then get raped for $500 to take it home.....
SO IF we are lucky we will get it cleaned up enough to install and have hot water before the night is over.
Needless to say the two page list of stuff we had left to do on the blue car did not even get started.
AT least Mark and DOug are here to kick me around ;)

I took it out today to find that Trick station @ Puyallup. They only had one hand pump out of a barrel, and that pump was full of leaded. So this chick was draining the lines and filter, when I said "I think I'll come back later". :eyes:
I went to the 76 in Auburn and made a couple freeway pulls. It's running like a beast. There's extra boost from the cold air, possibly an extra 3psi. That should do it. I will be logging the pull with HPTuners and LC1.

If anybody needs to have some work done on there cars be sure to give us a shot at it. Thanks again for comming, George :D
Thanks for the good time, George Nick and crew. Man I am as happy as can be. The TTi nitrous motor has a whole lot left in her once all the bugs are worked out on my part. This was with down 50rwhp, as you know, due to ls1 intake, and what i ended up with surprised me. That trophy looks nice on my desk.
Jason's car is going to be a sprayed car to reckon with, for sure. Maybe this early spring, Jason, Ellis and I can do a little group pull to see where each is at on the giggle gas?
Chris's car runs so smooth, and I predict he'll take the #1 ET spot for stock longblock with power adder (Z06 Fast List) as he is only .0xx away. Man them LS6's are brutes from the get go.
Glad to see everyone.

:thumb: It was a long day of dynos! Thanks TTi for having us. :chug:
My results: 668/599 on 12psi, net gain of +4hp/+35tq.
Not as much as I anticipated (from seeing extra boost in cold air), but I'm glad to survive with no damage. :D I'll try to get pics and vids up later.
It's possible my OEM cats are a bottleneck at this point. I'm suprised to make this much power with them anyway. Viva la LS6!

Well unfortunately on my N20 run I blew right threw the converter:bang: so it never locked up for me.:eyes: Still put down 445 rwhp on a I think once I can buy a Nitrous Converter and work out the tune I should be able to put down upwards of 550 at the wheels.
Your engine makes good power but it was driving through the converter big time and I'm sure you were leaving 50 to 75 rwhp on the table!!

Thanks everyone. I had a lot of fun. First time on the dyno with this car since my self-tuning efforts. I was on pump gas at only 25 degrees of timing at WOT. Nice and conservative. The engine is built to take 200+ shot of juice or more so next time I spray it for sure. :) (A big change from tuning my Supra for sure.)
Robert - I would love to have a group pull/play day. (maybe on a warmer day? hahaha) Say the word and I will be there. The system is done, both stages in, progressive controller ready to go. Just gotta fill my 20 pounder and choose some jets.
Chad- Thanks man. No prob on missing it, my toes were cold too. No spray this time. I wanted to get a motor-only baseline and test my WOT timing and PE tuning. Your car looks great by the way! See ya soon bro.

Thanks guys, Yea I think it's time for a new converter!! This TCI 3500 is good for bolt-on small cam application, but with these big heads and larger cam it just doesn't hold up. Thanks for a great day at your shop.

You guys are a bunch of wimps!! J/K, I was thinking it was a great day to make power. But I have to admit the cold has kept me from working on the car and all I have to do is put the intake back on and heat cycle so I can re-torque the heads. A heated garage would be bliss!

Ellis and Howard are going to do some Tuning this weekend and see what's up with that. I know the dyno numbers were down because of the new software, but his car should still have more HP than he got this weekend. They'll get it figured out I'm sure...

I just skimmed that thread. One fun thing we've done down here is where everyone who's interested throws in a couple bucks into a pot and guesses their HP number on their last run. Whoever is closest w/out going over wins the pot. :)

Yeah, those sparks are from the ring gear on the flywheel rubbing the titanium bellhousing..That is one of the things getting changed over the winter.
Thank's for posting that vid,I wish we could have kept it from spinning the tires so badly..Oh well,it's making real good power now.I cannot wait for next year.
