Default Illuminated power window -lock -mirror buttons

Ok, so I'm talkin with the guys at ledvault about makin some led illuminated switches that go on your door. This came about while I've been racking my brain on how I can do that mod myself and finally decided that the tools I have (Dremel tool, knives, and hobby razor knives) won't give even half-assed results. So the poll, would you get em?

That is something that totally struck me as odd when I got my camaro - at first I thought the bulb was blown in the switches but when I replaced my driver side window motor I noticed that they just simply weren't lit switches! Come on, even my old 93 taurus I used to have had lit switches, and they all still lit up after 14 years until the car rusted away and I sold it to the junk yard.

So yeah, I might be interested at some point. Too much other stuff to do first (and I've memorized the switches already anyway, go by feel) but I may do it at some point if there is something available.

haha now i see the poll.

yea i was shocked that even in my 99 grand am it had back lit switches, where this car has what seems to be 70s technology of a single front mounted weak lamp.

Its not a bad idea, I just don't see it being worth doing. Its not a huge deal because there are 3 buttons over there to pick from and the one thats sideways you know wont raise or lower the window. To me this is not a big deal of a mod to do..

Sounds neat, but that depends on the cost.

Default ???? Other car's switches...????

I know other cars have lighted switches, but here's the $1,000,000 question, do any other lighted GM switches match those found on our F-bodies? Ie, Grand Prix, Lumina, etc have the same switch, just in a illuminated form? I've been Googling for an aswer to that, but can't find much. Maybe someone with more experience in the other cars would know....???? I know it's quite a LONG shot! Swat

I think its a cool idea but it would be something that I would want to rig up myself not buy for 30 dollars or somthing ridiculous.

Good idea, 02gtp4now. I'm gonna start experimenting when I get an extra switch or set. I'm gonna get one of those tiny-*** carving bits for my Dremel and partially carve out the white of the switches. Then fill with melted opaque plastic or hard wax, then put a red LED behind it. This all is gonna suck and take a LOT of time, but I'll do anything for something custom! Swat

I simply replaced the current bulb there with an LED. Bright enough for me.....
