if your in od your car shoulda shifted by itself into second at least...i normally leave it in od all the time...watch the speedo pass 100mph then let off the brake and ease outa the gas

Put in 1st gear, hold brake, press gas.

So it doesn't shift gear and just hold it at like 5k and let the smoke roll.

i put in second...getem rolin through first. when it hits second i hold about 2 more seconds and let off the brake and gas at the same time.let the car roll toward the beams and slow up when i get close. keeps from shocking the drive train and tires.

I put it in D, push it to 70mph and let em smoke for 3-4 seconds then roll out of it.
A line lock would be a better idea.

I really don't see any advantage to keeping it in 1st or manually shifting.

I put it in first and bring the rpms up to about 5k hold it for 2 seconds then shift to 2nd and hold it for a few seconds and come out. I use a line lock.

I used to do it in OD at first, but was told this was wrong. I forget the reason but it sounded like a good reason. This is how the most everyone at the local track does it that have been racing for years.

Burn out in 1st. Spin the tires around 4500 mph and as soon as it starts smoking roll out.

You don't need to go 100 mph on the speedo or be in top gear.

It's a street car not a top fuel dragster.

rollem over in 1st in the water box, pull about 3 feet forward, set brake or line lock, bring it to about 5000 then knock it into 2nd and when you see smoke from your side views ease out of the brake and roll forward

No need to over stess the weakest link in the transmission(3-4 clutch) by having ti shift into 3rd. Not to mention it makes it easier for the tires to hook in third and slam the Sprag inside the converter beating it to death

I heat them up till I see them smoking and roll out makeing SURE I lift before the car hooks and slams the converter

I Start in 2nd Blurp it through the water box, Roll easy in second, shifting to third, and Pull to the line. Keep it in third out of the whole, and let the trans do what its meant to do (helps keep the car running consistant vs. manually shifting)

Not trying to tell you how to do things.....but, spinning the tires over IN the water is bad, it slings water up in the wheelwell and while you are staging it drips down onto the tire.

Better to drive through the water and get on the front edge where it is damp and start the burnout.

i usually go around the waterbox back into it and spin the tires one rotation t o get them wet... then i pull up past the water and throw it in first hold the brake and light em up... i spin it around 4000rpms until i see heavy smoke for a few seconds and then i let off the brake and ease out of the gas...

For the longest time, I've been putting it in 2nd (my car has 2nd gear start), smoke them for about 3-5 seconds, then roll out, letting out of the gas before I get to the line, then rolling up and staging.

Make sure that you point your mirrors down so you can see the tires as you're burning out, that lets you know when to let off.

Oh yeah, and a line-lock really helps a lot.
