isnt there a special mount you can get which screws into the underside of the front end and mounts the plate in front of the car? I know I've seen it. Can remember where. Hopefully the camaro guys will chime in. Ive been without a front plate in NJ for about 2 years. No troubles.

F the front plate, i have never had it. In my opinion, theres too much going on, on the front end of our cars, that cops don't usually notice

No front plate is just asking to get pulled over. And they'll probably get you at the worst time. The SLP bracket I got with my 2000 SS is ugly and would stick the plate out even further in front of the car. So I just bent the plate to match the contour of the front nose and screwed it into the "Camaro" grill piece. I have an "SS" grill piece so I didn't care about the Camaro one. The LT1 cars had a bracket the screws into the nose but I'm not sure what the factory piece is for the LS1 cars.

I'm right outside of AC in Absecon. I was pulled over once for speeding. 56 in a 35. He gave me a ticket for not having a front plate instead of a speeding ticket. other than that, no problems.

i never ran one on my 97 firebird and got pulled over all the time in s jersey. never got a ticket though. the only reason i put one on my current car is because a cop pulled me over and told me to put one on, and i have to drive by that station every day to get to work

Christ, What's the issue??!! NJMVC says front and rear plates. Take your pick, drive without it and get the ticket - otherwise, spend the $20 bucks on the front bracket that would have been there if you bought the car new, drill 3 little holes in the grill, and put the plate on where it belongs! Or option three - move to PA.

After no issues in 2 years with the car I got bothered twice this summer and had to go from this

to this...

I know this doesn't help you being a camaro guy, but at least you know that you are not the only one giving into this silly NJ law.

That doesnt work. I had mine in the window when I was pulled over. It HAS to be mounted on the front of the car. no lower than like 8 " i think and no higher than like 25" or something like that.
But i dont care. front plates are ugly and pointless. Theres no reason for a front plate. What the hell is the point of having some states requiring a front plate and some states only having rear plates? So stupid. It makes me mad.

I think I just died a little inside after seeing those pics WS6Jim Especially after seeing the op say "CAMERO"

I've been driving my car without front plates for about a year. Can't say I've put more than a hundred miles on it though, passed maybe a dozen cops. My plan is the cops see window tint/no front license plate and think I'm from pa I live like 10 minutes away. Anyone that drives their car a lot want to give this a try and tell me how it works out?

I wish that were true. I've been pulled over 3 times in the past month by Texas state troopers.

Last time the trooper FLEW, I mean FLEW, by me on the highway, slammed on his brakes once he passed me, then pulled ME over for no plate.

The 'officer of the law' actually took me out of my car and gave me a very angry lecture, which consisted of the whole "if I EVER see you on my highway again....."

haha how has this thread gone on without you getting flamed for saying CAMERO instead of camaro!? anyway i have an aftermarket grill and i bought a nice license plate frame. bent both the license plate and frame to the contour of the grill and bolted it on. Looks really clean, about as good as it gets and still being legal.
