Default EFILIve vs Autotap

Are there any major advantages of EFILive of Autotap other than the programmability part? Is it worth it to upgrade from Autotap to EFILIve for $150?

MUCH higher resolution/faster logging speed and the ability to test the car's systems in the pro version.

The Visual interface is better. Graphs and charts for various monitoring functions abound.

It's definitely better. Autotap is more generic.

What can EFILive monitor that Autotap can not?

Here are EFILive's capabilities.

http://www.autotap.com/EFILiveV5.html

It's sort of hard to explain, but I'll describe some of what I'm talking about..

You can watch the timing go from cell to cell in a chart as the rpms gms/s change, for instance. EFILive displays the PCM's commanded spark advance and air fuel ratio as a grid of values plotted against any two other parameters. The maps are "recorded" by EFILiveV5 by capturing the commanded spark advance or air fuel ratio and storing the captured values in the table based on the row and column parameters that have been selected for the maps.

Each map records a number of different statistics that can be displayed by clicking the appropriate display option to the left of the map.

Override
Displays the spark or fuel map that will be used to override the PCM's operation if and when the control panel is active and Use spark map or Use fuel map in the Modes tab page of the control panel is checked.

Current
Displays the most recently recorded spark or fuel values.

Average
Displays the average spark or fuel values.

Minimum
Displays the minimum spark or fuel values.

Maximum
Displays the maximum spark or fuel values.

Count
Displays the number of times that a particular cell in the table has been updated.

EFILive has real-time charts that update as the data changes.

You can also set it up to automatically calculate various values for you as data points are recorded. For instance, you can calculate things like RWHP, grams/cylinder or Injector Duty Cycle for each data-point and have it appear with the rest of the logged data.

Thanks for the info BlackLS1!

From reading the website you can do some editing?

I take it its just minor stuff but you would still need LS1Edit to do any kind of major tuning?

Thanks for the info.

From what I understand, the editing is temporary for diagnosis only. Everything reverts back to normal after the testing is complete.
