3rd gear keeps poppin out
hey guys i have an 01 ss m6 and maybe 1 out of 10 times i shift into third gear, it throws it right back out into neutral or it grinds. would this be the synchros? and if so is that an expensive thing to fix? or if u have any other ideas what this could be let me know

More than likely it needs a rebuild. Maybe a bent shift fork or a bad synchro. If you have an aftermarket shifter make sure your stops are set correctly.

Mine does the same but only when shifting to 3rd without giving it gas. If I shift the third and gas and then let off, it won't pop out. I read it's misaligned 3/4 shift fork, and most rebuilds include an upgraded steel 3/4 fork. I'm going to ask for it when mine is ready for a rebuild. Otherwise, it shifts fine.

Shift fork and or trashed engagement teeth on gear.
If it's just the fork, It will undoubedly lead to the later. Cheaper to just yank the thing out and replace the fork and syncros while you are at it. Be sure to put the dedal on the floor before throwing that stick! If shifting without lifting the gas, the motor will flash some either way, but syncros will last longer if you side step the pedal from the floor rather than trying to half clutch it. Most of the symptoms described here are due to ignoring this fact. Shift with the pedal on the floor guys!
BTW, I am one who was previously guilty of this sin an well. It took me many years to learn to race and maintain a manual trans car. Three of those years were speant after I thought I had finally learned. The irony: It's pretty D#@% easy. Unfortunately, It took me a long time to gain the knowledge to make it so...

i currently have the same damn problem with my t/a
i have learned how to prevent it from popping out but i cant powershift to save my life.
if i really hold the shifter up, and let off the gas and ease into the throttle, it usually lets me stay in gear. amber at six speeds told me its my key thats broke.
ill be ordering the rebuild kit as soon as the snow hits the ground...
hopefully its not a syncro because i don't believe they come with the kit
im thinking ill just send in pics of everything to amber because she knows her ****
