I am going to need a cam and springs with retainers also Alan. You promised to hook me up ;)
Remember, something hydraulic and nasty. But I want to use "bolt-on" springs that don't need mods to the heads. I think you recommended something in the 240 range. Needs to make good NA power, but respond good to N2O also. Bore will be 4.00 with 2.02/1.57 valves.
OBTW, I have been leaning toward the G5X2 cam setup. Give me a reason to reconsider :D

Sounds good Allan :D I trust the 918s will work with any of your cams?
You mentioned a little more duration on the phone for my setup. Is that going to be doable? I am going to let you suggest what to run. Here's the setup:
4-inch bore, stock stroke, Stage 2 heads (TEA), long tubes with little or no exhaust, TH400, not street driven very often. Good NA and N20 cam. Gimme your best shot dude ;)

Allan I need to get your opinion on a good nitrous cam for my setup. I want to buy whichever cam you recommend for my setup that will not give me any P/V clearance issues since I am doing the install myself. I'm looking for the largest cam I can fit in there while still staying somewhat safe.
These are the parts I have.
TEA Stage 2 5.3 heads milled .015 with Double Springs
Yella Terra 1.7 rockers
Comp R Lifters (I guess really called Pro Magnums)
Stock length hardened pushrods
If you would rather you can shoot me an email vane@comcast.net
I'm looking to order right away since I want to start this project soon as possible. The cam is the last piece of the puzzle. Thanks alot!

Thanks for the TTT Keith.
I was running a Cartek clutch back then, the only reason I removed it was to put the car back to stock before I sold it, it had over 20K miles and more than 300 passes on it, I could have run it for another year if I wanted to.
BTW I was leaving anywhere from 6500-7000 RPM :drive:
I'll be putting another Cartek back in over the summer now that I'm keeping it :D

Todd, the cams with lifts less than .610" will work fine with the 26918 springs as long as you use the stock rocker ratio. A cam speced 240\244 .615"\.620" will work killer in that size motor, but will require some 1.46" dual springs to avoid valve float. :judge:
VaneWS6,give me a call to discuss your requirements and we will come up with a cam to work with your combination.

Thanks Allan :D
I assume the 1.46 springs require additional head work? What the the price be for parts with that cam/springs/and retainers?
If too costly, I will stick with 918s and stock retainers and the best cam I can use with that combo.

Awesome choice for a cam Richie.. It idled like stock in my car.. I have the FM-9 cam currently on a 114lsa and it idles nice as well. The fast ramps Allan puts in his cams are awesome.. I have a few things I need to do to maximize my setup, but that should be done this year b4 I go to the next level. I am getting longtubes finally and most likely a real tune..

I want to order Allan, but an concerned whether my heads have enough meat on top to support the bigger springs. I am sending the heads out to Aboslute Speed to evaluate. Until then, I won't know which cam I can use.
Sorry for the delay, I will buy something, but need to have the heads evaluated first.
I'd be in for just a cam. (maybe another set of REV-1116 springs as well, need to replace my current ones)
I'm Currently running a 224/224 .581/.581 112+0 Comp Cam now. I'm looking for something new and bigger. I'm already running dual springs good for .610 lift on stock heads.
I'm in an M6 car, 4.10 gears, and idle quality really isn't a concern with me and tuning is in store later this summer. I'm also running a 175-225 shot of nitrous.
The FM-8 and FM-9 are catching my attention, but maybe you can recommend me something a little better, or maybe something different. (Flycutting is not an option)
Thanks.

The FM-9 cam is more than enough.. Mine is on a 114 lsa... If you want a little more horses you could try it on a 112 or 111 lsa since you do not care about idle. My current cam peaks at 6600rpm with my current setup.. I am sure if I went Stage II heads my peak would go up to 6800rpm.. I am over 405rwhp from 5600rpm to 7000rpm.. I am still running a old Ed tune from 4 cams ago.. I am sure ls1edit tuning would pick those #'s up a little. Did I mention I have midlength headers? Did I mention my dyno's were with 17x11's with 315's? Did I mention no dyno tricks..? No alum flywheel, no shortbelt, lid closed, 93 octane, dyno factor of 5, 95degree weather, no CFDS, etc.. Did I mention my heads flow only 280cfm at .600? Let me stop bragging.. :) The point is you cannot go wrong with Futrals cams.. My awesome TEA Stage I's with stock valves did not hurt either..
nice. and no flycutting of the pistons?
FM9 sounds like the cam for me.

Oh yeah Alan! Got lots of ideas, but no money! Spent $1600 down on a truck so I would have a daily driver. Now I am in "catch-up" mode on finances.
I am running Wiseco pistons with zero deck height and pretty healthy valve reliefs (maybe 4cc). Heads are getting touched up by Jay at Absolute Speed. Want to do nasty cam, but the valve spring issues may keep my limited. Still waiting to hear from Jay on this. I kind of need to decide on the cam so I can tell Jay if the heads need to be milled.
I am intersted in 238-240 durations with a 112lsa. Maybe we can do this will slightly lower lift so I can run 918 springs? What do you think?
