Default Has anyone run LS6 heads milled to 62cc and ran up to 15 lbs of boost?

On a stock displacement 346/7 forged motor? Thinking of milling my ported TEA LS6 heads slightly down to 62cc so i can reach my desired compression; and has anyone done this successfuly for a sig. period of time (without having issues with the heads blowing head gaskets, etc., etc.).

2cc's cut on the heads shouldn't be too bad, maybe call Bill @ Opel Engineering in Streamwood and see what he says.

Yeah JOHN I am thinking this is very doable but need to make up my final decison tommorrow and leaning towards the 62cc milling as its really a small amount of material and I won't see more than 14 to 15 lbs of boost MAX when I am driving her ***** to the wall.

I wouldn't cut them. It's not worth what you have to gain IMO.

Andy, you point is well taken and you may be 100% correct as we are talking about 9:5 compression vs 9:7 (but I really want that small compression gain).

Yeah DARTS would be a no brainer as they have a much thicker deck than the LS6 heads!

Those heads are thin as it is. Then if you ever have to do a clean up pass on them?? It stinks changing head gaskets and I think you could make more power with a little more timing than you could make from .2 of compression. JMO.

Good point, and CHRIS at POWERHOUSE PERF. told me the exact same thing today! You are starting to convince me to stay with 64cc heads and 9:5 to 1 compression!

I agree as it is not my objective to pop heads gaskests once or twice a season!

Kind of shows I need to stay at 64cc and limit boost to 15lbs MAX!

You guy's are correct. The dart's are some of the thinnest deck's. They are still good head's for 700hp though, not much more.
