General Maintenance & Repairs - bcm problem

After doen a search on here I have come to the conclusion that a relay is goen bad in my bcm in my 00 SS.. windows and radio go out then come back on after a bit of time. My question is can you replace this relay or do you have to replace the whole bcm??? If so will this mess up the computer tuning we have had done due to new cam last year and retune for new heads last week??? sorry if this is a dumb question but hey thats how you learn :emb: !

x2, mine has been doin the same thing for the past 6 months lol.

The BCM is a completely seperate module from the ECM, which is what you would have tweaked to tune the motor for the new cam and heads.

The relays in the BCM are not servicable. I suppose if you were good at soldering PC boards, you could give it a try.

I had this same problem, and replacing the BCM fixed the problem.

so what if i bought a used one out of another car, doenst it need to be programmed to mine somehow???? Also will this turn off my security light by any chance ??

The problem with a used one....it has to come from a car that uses the same resistor in the key as your car. Only a new BCM can be programmed to your key's resistor. Once it's programmed, it can't be changed.

Your BCM might be having other issues beside the Retained Accessory power, if so, it may fix your security light (which is another function of the BCM). I'd suggest doing a full diagnosis (I followed the procedures in the factory service manual, to make SURE it was the BCM, and not a simple ground or wiring problem) before spending the $250 on a new BCM.

I had the same problem. I bought a NEW BCM for about $150 and it fixed everything.

GMpartsdirect.com ***.... $160 I believe for a BCM. I'm running a diagnosis first using the Gm Service Manual DVD, but will most likely have to buy the new BCM. My window controls/radio have been going off and on as well.

mine is doing the same thing....windows and radio go off randomly while car is running. Who can do the diagnostic of the BCM? I have EFILive for scanning and flashing my ECU but don't think it can do anything with the BCM. ANy help would be appreciated.

Well, I did the diagnosis myself using a factory service manual. It's very simple...check for voltage here and there, etc. It's just to make sure that the problem lies with the BCM, and not a loose ground, bad wire or connector.

I highly recommend the factory service manuals, they are WELL worth the money they cost, and usually pay for themselves on your first repair.

Knowing what the resistance is in the key pellet would help you sell a used BCM.

I'v got the glove box out and the kick panel removed but it's a bitch to pull out any help would be appreciated.

Finally got the BCM out and installed new one. Reprogammed the transmitters, the key programmed automatically. I'm getting 5 beeps when the ignition turned off. Reset BCM still get the beeps. DTC codes 15 25 35. Could it be a bad shock sensor or is there something else that needs programming???

where did you get the manual to do pinpoint testing on the car? i want to buy one but dont know where to get one?
