I went in 05 with my syclone. went from baltimore to indy, nashville, birmingham, tallahassee, and orlando florida and back to baltimore. my buddy and I split hotel and gas costs. if i remember correctly we had just under $550 each. we didnt go to milwaukee which was the first stop. The syclone was getting around 23mpg on the highway too which helps. that was even with a non-lockup 3500 stall converter and the truck ran 12.00 at indy in 94 degree weather with horrible humidity. plus i was easy on it since we still have 2500 miles to drive 
it was a blast and i cant wait to go again, if youve never gone definitely go at least once!

oh yea, it will test it. There was a point on our trip, between nashville and birmingham i think it was, that we were stuck on this little 2 lane road. As far as you could see in front or behind us was hot rods.
It was like 96 degrees, high humidity, and we are all at a crawl because (ill never forget this) there was a house in the road. Somebody was trying to tow it with a truck on a trailer, and the truck broke down. they then hooked a big farm tractor to the truck and was dragging it all up the hill and there wasnt really enough room to pass it!
just one of many many stories we have from that trip!

Figure about $30 a day for gas, $50 a day for hotel, and $50-$75 a day for food. Again, like I said, you can go cheaper on food if you eat fast food for every meal, but that gets old real quick.
So add it up and that's $130- $150 a day per person.

Exactly. For that exact reason, I took it very easy when I ran the quarter in Gainseville in 2006. I spun out of the hole, short shifted to second easy at 3500 rpm, spun some more in second and eased my way to a 13.15 @ 105 mph. Last thing I wanted was to break something in Florida. By the time we got back to Jersey at E-town (close to home), I was just to tired to run.

I spent over $1500 for 2 people. My last Tour was the 06. It was awesome. When we left Dainesville for the Georgia line I had several really good runs against some stout competition. I think that was the best part of the ride for me. Blowing off 4 different cars in 15 minutes and everyone one of them was fast.
I ran this Camaro and it had a 502 and a 5 speed Keisler and he was beat before I was able to shift into 4th. Most of the runs on the Tour were from 70 or 80mph which worked for me since I am still leaving rubber at these speeds.

you'll end up spending a grand or so.. depending if you fly solo or not. the best way is to get a co pilot and then you split the cost.
Also you can split the driving or hitchhike with someone else and trade passengers if you meet some cool people. Thats what I did and got it was fun! I ended up riding with a few different people in a bunch of bad *** cars!

'07 was my first Power Tour. I took my '01 SS and got great mileage and had a blast. The only bummer was the rain in Cleveland, Kalamazoo, and Racine. Inspite of that, I am going again in '08. I went with a co-pilot and spent about $600 on the four stops that we made. I flew by the seat of my pants too. I had no hotel arrangements made prior to the tour. I probably got screwed by being a lazy bum and not making reservations, but in the end it worked out. Every hardcore car guy/girl should do the Power Tour at least once in their life!

Sign up for a Priority Club Rewards visa charge card. You get points for every purchase and every hotel stay at Holiday inn, HI Express, Crowne Plaza, Staybridge...etc. In '06 I redeemed my points for 3 FREE hotel stays on trip. Plus the HI Expresses have pretty good continental breakfast saving you even more.
Saved me about $300.

Sunset I am jealous. 5 long hauls is incredible. My wife would have beaten me silly after 500 miles. I have been on 4 so far and yet to complete one. Next time I go I will allow myself more time to finish.
In 06 I used 2 cars since I had my Camaro decided to become tempermental. I had a PM saying someone seen me in another car and yes they are right. I left Orlando and before going to Gainesville stopped home and grabbed another car. So it might have cost me a few extra dollars if we add in unexpected maintenance.

I proposed to her on the 05 Power Tour. We only missed this year b/c we didn't have enough vacation time after our wedding and honeymoon.

The last one I was on was 99 so I'm ready to go again. Hard to decide which car I really want to take. Last time I took my 78 Lesabre Turbo Sport Coupe and talked to Steve Magnante(tech Ed) for a while and would realy like to show him how the car looks this time. But I would also like to take my rear drive 87 Shelby Charger too. Which one would you guys like to see?

A Buick Turbo is always a smooth and fast ride. I used two different cars on the 06 Power Tour. My Camaro was not dialed in since I only just finished a frameoff resto in it. Here is are 2 pics of my Power Tour rides. Since we are talking supercharged I have to throw in a pic of my Viper

Wife and I have been on 4 Tours....we spent about 200 bucks a day altogether....gas-food-and then just less then 100 bucks for a good hotel.
