Street Racing & Kill Stories - got to play with a zo6

The other night my girl and I were heading home, when I got next to a yellow zo6 in a double turn lane. The light turns green, and we both go pretty easy around the turn, just was we get into the straight, both of us go into second and nail it. I couldn't believe it, but I actually stayed with him. Not only that, but pulled slightly on him, only because he missed third. By the time he finally got into 3rd I had to let out for my turn off. It wasn't much, but it was a fun race.

nice job....esspecially with how few mods you seem to have.....
it does not take a lot of mods to outrun a Z06.....with headers and a good exhaust you would have really worked him over :)

I would disagree here. It will take at least 1 major mod to outrun a ZO6 be it a cam, nitrous or whatever. I have raced many bolt on F-bodys and have not lost to a single one. And you are gonna need more than just headers and exhaust.
Echo is right. 3rd gear on an M12 is the money gear. Probably good thing he missed it.
Great runs. Nothing like a good race!!!!!!!

I tend to agree with Flynlo... the M12 is pretty nasty. but it also sounds like that z06 driver could drive stick worth a . Sorry, but I think a better driver would have had you... but congrats anyway! It's true that there's nothing like a good race to get the blood pumping. :burn:

I certainly don't doubt that a better driver would have had me, but the fact that we stayed even through second gear really surprised me. I am sure if we had started in first, he really would have beaten me badly. I was just surprised that I stayed with him is all. lots of fun either way, even if he had been a good driver and walked me.

Obrien, good race and good kill. When you get a tasty morsel on the line and you wanna see how you measure up, you gotta make some sacrafices.....like passing your turnoff and going at it another time. Also, your advantage is from a dead dig. Try to get the adversary to somehow yield to your advantage. Just a few tips. Have fun out there.

It wouldn't have mattered if I would have passed my turn, because there was too much traffic ahead. It didn't take us long to catch them. I would have loved to run him from a dig, but I didn't get to. I tried to get one to race from a dig the other day and the guy wouldn't bite

The Z06 would eat you for brunch if it was properly driven. Low 13's doesn't cut it. Sorry.

I agree! I think he was toying with you. These cars are really light (mine's 3048lbs) and the tranny's are geared to go from a roll. On street tires, mine pulled a 12.1@121.2 with a 2.0 60' with just headers and a airbox. Bone stock it went 117 MPH in the 1/4. That's at least 10 mph faster in the 1/4 than you're running.
From a roll, I've found that a A4 f-body needs at least 40 RWHP more than the Z06, just to make it even. From a dig is a different story. Most guys (including myself) can't launch a Z06 for sh!t.
