The motor will probably be the L98 version of the Gen 4 6.0L. There are some differences but these conversions have been done into Gen 3 equipped cars, don't know where your from but this link my be of help and gives a basic run down of what needs to be done. http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=79739&highlight=ls2+into+Vy

My question is
Is the engine LS6 or LS2?
Holden never fitted LS6 or LS2 to their cars.
LS6's are only 5.7 litres anyway.
HSV fitted LS2's to their cars.
If it's a Holden 6 litre engine it will be either an L76 or an L98.

Is their is any tag or number written on the engine that its L76 or L98?

Holden Launches WM Statesman And Caprice Flagships 2006-08-31
"The Generation IV 6.0 litre V8 alloy (L98) engine delivers increased peak power and torque of 270kW @ 5700rpm and 530Nm @ 4400rpm using 98 RON fuel."
L98 as far as I know is a Holden only engine designation. It's basically a Gen 4 6 litre aluminium block with L92 cylinder heads. It has no displacement on demand hardware fitted.
It's cousin is the L76. Same Gen 4 6 litre block with L92 cylinder heads...but the L76 has displacement on demand hardware fitted. ie special lifters and oil manifold in the valley. The hardware is there but not activated in the Holden cars.
I do not know if there is any way of telling the difference between L76 and L98 by just looking at them.

So you have yourself a 6 litre L98 from a 2007 Caprice.
To answer the question I think you're trying to ask.
No the L98 will not plug straight in and run off an LS1 harness and PCM.
(You can change a bunch of the L98 hardware to make it work but the list is long and complicated)
It might be easier to explain what needs to be done if we knew what car the L98 was going into.

I'll swap it into Landcruiser

These guys can probably make the exact thing you need.
If your engine has the grey crank sensor (as it should for 58x crank reluctor), look in behind the starter motor. Then an E38 PCM with a custom harness to suit 58x (same as LS2/LS7) and with only the functions you want would be the way to go.
You could probably get traction control, torque management etc deleted.
Grey crank sensor = 58x

Choose Automatic or Manual

Hi again
Regarding the crank sensor yes it has a grey crank sensor behind the starter motor.
About the harness i have seen that web site but its too costly $1695 which almost same the engine price . :bang:

Nope.
Numbers confirm it is an LS2 block.
Head casting number confirms they are L92 heads.
(A true LS2 would have 243 heads......but yours are better flowing, lucky you)
So as stated previous, technically you have an L76 or L98 Holden engine.
Thanks alot for great info
