hi guys ....




I like to know the proximal Wight for BBC 496 engine assembly



This Complete Kit Contains:

Scat Series 9000 Pro Comp Lightweight Cast Crankshaft, 4.25" Stroke, 454 main, 2 piece Rear Main Seal. Kit is designed to internal balance (Will need to be balanced before assembly, may require heavy metal to balance.) This crank is approximately 67 lbs. PN: 9-454-4250-6385
Scat Premium 4340 Forged 6.385" I-beam Connecting Rods with ARP 7/16" 8740 Capscrew Fastners, Floating Pin, 2-ICR-6385-7/16
JE SRP Forged Pistons, PN: 212157, 4.310 bore - These pistons are +.060 bore (Other sizes available, please inquire) estimated compression is 10.2:1 w/ 118cc heads
Perfect Circle or Total Seal Plasma Moly Rings
Clevite 77 Performance 'P' 454 Main Bearings
Clevite 77 Performance 'P' 454 Rod Bearings

I herd a BBC with aluminum heads weighs as much as a full cast irn SBC. I really wonder if that true?

i hope to help me
With a cast iron intake and cast iron head around 685 lbs. Small blocks are around 550 lbs. These are complete motors stock. Cast iron everthing.

So maybe 600 with aluminum heads?

I would say you will drop 70 lbs just with aluminum heads and 20 or so lbs with an aluminum intake so right under 600 like 580 or so.

So pretty damn close to full iron SBC weight, that is cool.

Yeah pretty close. I mean as close as your gonna get with a dam boat anchor. BBC stuff is unbelievebly heavy so to drop that much weight switching heads and a intake is pretty good. Make a big difference for the car .

Hell yea, i am going to be a 496 on the street in my third gen, i was not wanting to have to swap springs and what not.

and how much weight for stroker kit only ?!


the piston and rods maybe around 33 - 45 lbs



the cast crank 4.25 ?!!

Eagle sells a 496 hit for 2200$, i have seen a 489 kit from scat for 1750$. I am going to use the scat kit when it is time for me.

the forged kit rang 2000 to 3000 $

I have small block springs that i can use with a big block w/ aluminum heads, so the weight is similar almost.
