Default Open header, pipe ext. for O2 sensors, how long to run rig

I just ordered Jet-Hot LT headers and will have to drive it open header after I install them before I get the custum Y-pipe made with Carsound cats for a little while. Could be a couple weeks maybe more, hopefully less. How long of an extension would be required to keep the front O2 sensors reading accurately and not be contaminated by outside air? I probably should've asked this earlier, but today I spent $26 for a pair of 1'x3" exhaust pipes (with two clamps) that are expanded on one end to slip over another 3" pipe. Will this be long enough to run well on my open headers??

You SHOULD be fine with at LEAST a 12" extension.
