I got this off another site, some of the wise cracks are my friends comments who is a mustang guy:

Ford has said to bring back the 5.0 motor in there 3 valve gt series for 2008-2009, and steve saleen will have his h302 series 5.0 motors in his n/a cars , also a new bullit and boss model to the lineup,
following engines:
v8 5.0 302ci 3 valve

390hp
390tq
It will be based of the current shelby GT

v8 4.6 281 3 valve

320hp
330tq
the boss is said to be euipped with fords corvette " eater" motor

it's the new hurrican 6.2 liter v8 500hp n/a
FINALLY A N/A mustang besides a 5.4!!

so following new mustang lineup:

315hp bullit mustang

320 hp shelby gt

390hp saleen 5.0

500hp boss :D
Ford resurrects legendary 5.0-liter V-8 engine with all new Ford Racing BOSS 302.
New line of BOSS crate engines are capable of delivering up to 500 horsepower

500hp n/a out of 5.0 liters

hmm now ford is getting smart as for chevy needed 7.0liters and there ls7 motor to make 500hp n/a
now they need to make these things lighter all models are in the 3,500-4,000 lb curb weight <_<

Still no official word on the camaro specs though huh...I hope this encourage's them to build a top of the line camaro that's faster than the ls3.

Wow, seems pretty crazy that Ford just skipped the entire 400hp range. 390hp to 500hp! Pretty cool, but I'll wait to see what Chevy comes out with in the Camaro before I jump ship. I like these new HP wars.

But it looks like they'll be pulling 500hp out of 6.2L, not 5.0 liters.

where did they get their info from?

if its true you know it'll be in the price range of a z06.

why would they make an n/a mustang when a cobra with $1000 in mods gets you another 75rwhp?

All this just re-assures me theres gonna be a very high horsepower top-of-the-line Camaro in line very soon after their debut. It's all good.

Well, that's cool.

Thing is, I would pick more cc engine anyways. Why? because I have much more potential there. But I guess it depends on if You will want to build it or not. At one point you will be limited by having smaller motor (5 Liter).
Just because it is smaller and makes same power as the other one, doesn't mean it is better.
Chevy didn't need 7 liter to make 500hp. They just gave us more potential in these motors where in your 5.0 you will still need that damn blower to keep up at one point or another, because you simply don't have the cc :D

all this does is raise the bar, i'm all for it.

FWIW those Mustangs are heavy turds, 500 hp n/a or sc'd they're still pigs.

Good shit. I am proud of the american car makers, way to grab ahold of their balls!!! No the camaro, G8 GXP, GTO, Challenger, etc. need to follow suit and we are golden!!!!

I can't believe you guys are believing this crap. Once Ford announces it, I'll take it seriously.

If we don't know what engines the Camaro will have in just over a year, what makes you think Ford is releasing specs for two years from now?

GTODan
11-11-2007, 09:04 PM
What difference does it make? It will just be another $50k+ mustang that most people will never even see one of unless they live in an area where people are stupid enough to pay that for a mustang.

The GT is not a turd weight wise...the Condor is though. I would love a new pushrod 5.0!!!

First of all, I think this info is bull shit. Secondly, I would rather have a N/A 7.0 or a FI 6.2 than a gay ass N/A 5.0! That shit isn't gonna make nearly enough bottom end torque to get a 3550lb Muskrat moving in a hurry like a 7.0! I do like the new Mustang, but if you wanna go fast without spending a butt load of cash, wait for the Camaro.

Not a valid argueement considering Ford uses how many more cams and valves....:eyes:

That is nice for a stang but it's nothing to be scared about. Who all has seen the video of a 98 TA with full exhaust, lid and, 4.10s beat a brand new 427R from multiple roll ons??? It can make all the power it wants but doesn't mean it will put up great #'s for what it is. It does look very nice though. I've seen a C6 Z06 go 10.8@120s(can't remember the trap) with a set of ET Streets only, I don't think this Stang will do all of that:D

i dont see how they are calling it a "corvette eater" when it only makes 500hp from a 6.2L. The gt500 is 500 hp...and they dont "eat" the corvettes. And even if ford makes a 6.2L 500hp boss, GM will bump up the LS3 from 430-500 in someway shape or form.

Or you could buy a C6RS and be scared of nothing.

I am going to call BS on the whole story. How can they release specs for a factory engine that isnt even out yet and also for an aftermarket tuner for an engine that isnt even out yet?

Also, your post says "500hp out of 5.0" but then says the 500hp engine is a 6.2l. The very mild mannered LS3 make 430 already out of 6.2, so it wouldnt be far behind. You can easily make 500 fwhp out of an LS3 in the hands of an aftermarket builder, 500 rwhp isnt unheard of either.

Like I said I copied and pasted this directly off a friend from another site, some of the wisecracks were his too since he's a mustang guy, I asked em if he could link us to where he got it from and he just wrote the website's that are on those picture's like stang.net. I figured I'd post it and if anyone else had any info they could add to it whether it's true or false, I'm curious myself, but more than anything I'm just hoping this will motivate chevy to make a top of the line model SS that's 500+hp. I love these hp wars.

Did someone at ford just now notice that their affordable model mustangs were underpowered? Its about time they put something under the hood with some power. I know that they had potential before but factory GT's were pretty sad stock. The only reasonable priced mustang with power was the 03 Cobras. I hope they really build these motors and put them in something other than some $50,000-$70,000 special edition mustang like these shelby Gt500 and KR.

11-13-2007, 10:09 AM
Why don't they all pitch in and make one ultra tuner stang and friggin' be done with it. Call it the RousalleeshelbyfiedfukinRoadkingsombitchGTstage5.0 TerminatinCobralimited$$$everyonesignthedashplate Mustang.

Buckwheat I hear you there. just build a mustang that is fast not attempt it 20 times and keep calling it something else.

And what's the mileage gonna be on these things? The LS7 beat the gas guzzler tax... but even the dealerships will tell you that the mustangs can't even match their lower EPA ratings. That's one of the things that keeps me away from the Ford market.

Not to mention seeing 400 hp f-bodies and vettes walking 500 hp stangs all day long. But I guess I'm a GM loyalist.

It's good, but expected that they'd step up their cubes with the reintroduction of the f-body.

Now go ahead and flame me for being a fan of GM on a GM forum.

I don't know a guy in SvtPerformance who has connections and has been right before said that the new boss is going to be a 5.4L N/A making 380hp at the flywheel...he also said that the new Mustang is going to get a 5.8L.

Here's the link

I havn't read the whole thread so their may have been some changes on the boss.

Theirs alot of changes,I just read and the guy said larger than a 5.0...so I don't know

Intriguing, but I have a feeling their nat. asp. solutions and engines will be far too pricey in comparison to the competition to make a serious dent.

I'd like to see a super stripper stang version first... like weight in the 30-3100 lb range for a V8.

Does anyone else think the current body style and it's 20-flavors has gotten a little tired? I don't know, the mustang styling just isn't doing it for me anymore, no matter how many different badges, stripes or stickers they put on it. Though, I wouldn't mind trying one out that said "BOSS 429" or "COBRA JET 429"... heh :D

Ill belive it till one is on a show room floor, and has a push rod instead of that shit mod motor, and has more than 5.0s...

Wtf? make it a 6.0 or somthing

So its a cobra R type motor with 3v heads...Wow ford worked really hard for that one..

Look up the drag times on a cobra R they are very weak

I'm all for Ford stepping up with some more cubes, the competition is a good thing. Ford did fall off the track when they went with the 5.0 instead of a 351w. And then the 4.6. History shows that GM did the right thing with the LS pushrod engines.

a 500hp 5.0 n/a? I'll believe it when I see it. It'd be hard for them to even compare that to the LS7. 500hp or not, LS7 has some pretty nice tricks up its sleeve, not to mention it still gets good gas mileage. Beat that!
