I've used rubbing alcohol and q tips to clean mine on both my ls1 and stang. Just be real careful and not to get the q tips caught on the wires.

I've been told that electrical contact cleaner, sprayed on works well. I'm wondering if they come as clean with just a spray as with a cue tip.

I used the spray THEN went over it with a q-tip.

The electrical contact cleaner that you can pick up at radio shack, etc. work well A q-tip will not hurt but you normally don't need it.
