Default LS1 Transmission Question!

I have a 2000 Z28 6 speed. My second gear is gone, it wont even go in, and right now I am just trying to find something cheap just to get me by until I can rebuild my messed up trans. I am just wondering what different manual transmissions would work for this car? thanks for any help that is provided.

Borg Warner is now Tremec, and the T-56 is what you already have, so if you can source another, it will drop right in (for the most part).

Be sure it is a 98-02 T56, if I remember correctly they are different from the T56 in the LT1.

What spline is the input shaft for the ls1 transmission? Is the 98-02 t56 the only manual transmission that will work?

Yes without having to change front plates, bellhousings or input shafts. The LS1 T56 98-02 is the only thing that will drop right in without changing anything. That is the only manual that will bolt up without any changes and I am sure that is the only manual that will bolt up period.

Ok, so I put my newer bellhousing on the older transmission and then I swap the input shafts and that is all? Anybody got a link where I could see the input shaft being changed? thanks.
