Well I decided I had a bad case of headsandcamitis so I called in sick and went to the track 11-10-2007 cold and not much sun but enough to take the nip out of the air. The track guys gave us a treat by seperating the street tires and ricers from the drag tire crowd. That made for some very good track conditions. I ran a set of worn out BFG drag radials (thanks ruqwikr) and was pulling the wheels about 2 feet in the air. The track photog only got the first pass where I set the 2step down to 5500 motor bogging RPMs. I made good numbers for my lil346 M6 10.50s and a 10.60something @130.

The day was killed by 3:00 from 2 oildowns almost back to back by the street tire guys then an 8 sec Nova snuck up into the lanes with the last of the sh!t tire guys. The air was getting the fall nip back by the cloud cover (the baro was falling fast) the track got cold and this guy comes out on a full mojo everywhichwayandveryloose pass...whadya think happend? You were right if you said he got intimate with the wall trying to push the balancer a little further onto his Gianinno 680 Bigblock motor. I think he was so trying not to cry he wouldnt even talk while trying to load up his car in his enclosed trailer.

Still a good day to help me get thru the winter and look forward to running when its warmer also a lesson to be learned about running in the cold and putting yourself right where you shouldnt be. Wrong place, wrong time and wrong group of cars in the lanes.

Its tough this time of the year, temps are falling and track prep is usually pretty sparse and HP is up so you see a lot of cars in the wall. Same stuff yesterday with me, couple cars in the wall, lots of 'almosts' and add a few oildowns and you get a little nervous sitting in staging watching this with your 10.5 tire low 9 second car wondering what you are doing there :)

Thats why I made two passes and got my ass home..

The only problem with cool air can be cool/cold track temps. That means slip and slide can be in short order. Bummer deal, but at least he's okay.

Same thing in Lakeland (1/8 mile) last night. The track was good and sticky early then cold air, lots of dew , 2 oildowns and a car into the wall at 400' , then slip n slide bracket racing the rest of the night.

Tom, you're welcome! He gets my parts too cheap or free when I do something different. My lil' head/cam motor is still going strong in his car (10.37 at 133 with an M6 is his best, I believe). Take care. Dave
