PCV oil catch-can.....who has them?
ok people who have them....i just wanna ask a few Q's
i built a cheap catch can, similar to the one on LS1info.com, where they used a 1quart paint can(said NineBall wrote up the article)
im not into "looks" under the hood, so 10$ in lowes parts is OK with me
but anyways, seems the best place to mount it, would be on the driver side between the radiator and the fuse box, against the frontmost support thing
thats gonna be quite a bit of hose to run between the pcv and the throttlebody......
so my question is, would that mess up the "vacuum" at all?
cause any driving or idle problems?
thanks

Is that the same 'paint can' that crushed in on itself on the dyno? Shouldn't have any affect on driving or idle, but *could*, in theory reduce the vacuum some I suppose. If I were you, I'd double check on the paint can thing (if you haven't already...)
I have a similar catch-can setup, but using an air compressor water separator instead...
good luck,
Shane

I used this link http://www.slowls1.com/pcv.htm ...It works great and no vacuum leaks. I have had it on the car about 2 months with no problems.

I've been running this set-up for about a yaer and a half now with no ill effects. I do put on a new seperator every year though. It costs about $20 max for all the parts. You can use the Crftsman seperator, or Cambell Hausfeld makes one too. The Cambell Hausfeld seperator is a bit cheaper, and made better, IMO. I love craftsman tools, but I thought the Craftsman seperator looked and felt cheap.
Look in the sig to see how I mounted it. It basically supports itself. BTW... I painted mine.

Re: PCV oil catch-can.....who has them?
I have not found a better or cheaper solution than what Honez has done. See LS1.com link above.
1) It is not an obvious add on, and looks decent
2) It is cheap
3) It can have a drain
4) It works
I added a drain to mine. I after a 20 min session I have about 4 ounces of oil. Low RPM driving produces much less oil.
There may still be a site where a guy detailed how he [Forman] built the pvc container. His design had shortcomings, but was a great starting point.
I found a flat cap on the bottom, 81mm body and a threaded cap for the top works well.
