Default 12's Possible?

Alright, I am looking to put some go-fast goodies on my Z and wanted some input. I am looking on going mid to low 12's on some sticky street tires. I am thinking on putting in a 3000 Stall converter, long tube headers and a TR224 Cam with the supporting mods. Do you think this will yield me my goals? I have about a $1000 Budget and looking for a VERY streatable DD car that has some guts. Not looking in doing nitrous. Any opinions? Have a SLP intake and a SS catback already.

Ya, the budget is about $1000-$1500
I have spent months searching and still change my mind every day so that is not helpin so much
I was thinking
-PaceSetter Headers $276 Shipped
-TR224 Cam $350 Shipped
-3000 Converter (off brand or restalled GM) - $400
-Valve springs, LS2 Timing chain, B&W 24,000 Tranny cooler - $200
-Some kind of tune- $300

Car already run's 13.16 at 106 so hopefully this will do it!

Don't forget install 300-500 for headers, 500-850 for cam... Plus springs, pushrods for the cam package. Have no clue on the install costs of a stall but also factor that in. 1000 just won't cut it man.

a friend of mine had a 2002 ss.

his mods were: lt headers, bbk throttle body, pulleys, 3.73's, subframe connectors and no tuning. he hit 12.7 with that.

ill bet that you have 2.73 gears, so going to 3.73 or 4.10 youll get prety close, and then headers (and tune of course) and you should be good, and within your range.

i am getting a mph of 107 with mids, magnaflow and lid on stock tune and 2.73, with stock tires.

a stall would be close to $800 with install, ive priced it. how are you getting the stall speed figured? you dont have enough mods to need a 3k stall, i was looking at doing 2800 or so.

I did not sell the car because the guy gave me a down payment and all then said he was going to pay me off mouthy so I did not do it. Decided to keep the car for now and get a SS hood and some chrome ZR-1 and a few performance mods. Also I will be doing all the installs my self. I know a few good performance shops and can get some significant discounts on some of the parts. Also on the converter I know a local tranny builder that is said to be one of the best and he claims that he can restall a OEM gm converter and built it to hold at least 500 Hp for under $500 bucks.

Also Motown the track was Milan a few mounths ago. With good tires car can get into the 12's stock

get a set of longtubes and a free flowing exhaust, a tune, and some drag radials. you will run mid-low 12s all day long. very simple to do with an a4 ls1 fbod.
