Default Getting a stall with stock rearend?

OK after hearing how weak the stock rearends, and after hearing stories of snapping them with stock everything!, why is it that everyone tells people with autos to get stalls and M.T's? Wouldnt tht destroy a stock 10 bolt very easily too? Or could it get away with it because its an auto? Thats wut everyone says is, "GET A STALL and tires" Bad idea for rearend?

The autos are MUCH friendlier on the stock rear. My first LS1 f bod was an A4. It went LOW 11s (11.20@120) first time out with that setup. It was a high 10 sec car, just needed to dial it in. Didnt even have a ported TB. Anyhow, it was on the stock rear and I ran Nittos out back with a 3500 stall. Never had an issue and the rear was as quiet as day one when I got rid of it to start fresh with my current car.

Because an auto transmits far less shock to the rear than a manual does. With an auto you're "pre-loading" the rear gears while engaged in a forward gear whether you're moving or not, while with a manual you're basically smashing the thing into gear every time you sidestep the clutch. Hope that makes sense.....

so basically it would be okay to run street radials with an a4 but very risky running them with a 6speed?

Street radials will be fine in either an A4 or M6 car. Yes, I know there's stories about guys breaking them going down the highway, or on a hard 1-2 shift, but personally I've been pretty aggresive with both of my cars' 10 bolts, both on DR's, and neither ever made a peep. Both M6's too. Maybe I'm just one lucky S.O.B. I wouldn't worry about a smallish stall and MT's out back on your car though.

You'll be fine.....M6's are the ones who have rearend problems because all the force of a hard shift get transferred right to the rear.
