Suspension & Brakes - How well does a aftermarket tq arm help on the street???

I am going to be going with a 3.73 gear soon ove my 2.73, i am sure my traction issues will worsen. I had a friend tell me his aftermarket tq arm helped ALLOT, not just a little but significantly. Is it just depending per car or can i expect a good gain on my hole shot on the street???

Good question.... I still have the factory torque arm, about the only stock suspension peice left.

Aftermarket Torque Arms are a great upgrade. Granted I just have a V6 at the moment but I notice a very large increase in stability in cornering and also wheel hop cease to exsist. The stock TA is a joke compared to an aftermarket tubular one.

I want to know if my buddy is BSing me or not, his 4.56 geared cammed LS1 car went from burning heavily thru 2nd and spinning a bit into 3rd to hooking allot better to spinning in 1st and a bit in second with a 3rd gear cherp is what he claims. I wanna know if the 300$ i am looking at dishing is really gonna do this for me. One thing is for sure, i wont be fearing the track...

It should help out, not sure how much though. Adjustable lower control arms and reloc. brackets are supposed to help out as well. I just made the jump from 2.73s to 3.73s as well and i have a set of LCAs waiting to go on. I will also be upgrading to a bmr tq. arm soon, so i'll see how much it helps.

I added the BMR Adj. Torque Arm, Adj. PanHard Rod, and Lower Controll Arms all at the same time in my old Z/28 and it was like a completely different car! With the 4.10s and DR's that little hardtop car would launch pretty damned good for an otherwise stock car!

I honestly think of the three things that I did, the torque arm did the most for my strait line launch. It's hard to tell though since I did all three at the same time while I had the car up on stands, but that's just my opinion and observation.

My car felt like it wanted to lift the nose after i went to the tunnel mounted BMR Trac Bar. It tracks dead straight now off the line too. Even with my Sumitomos CLAWING for traction, which they actually do a half way decent job of doing. Just need a tire i can shock off the line and i'll be good.

Note: I also have LCA's, LCA reloc brackets, Adj. PHB, Eibach Pro-kit.

The shorter style torque arm is going to react faster and put more of a "hit" on the tire to help make the car hook off the line. A long style torque arm isn't going to react as fast but is a much more streetable piece providing better handling characteristics and less road noise. A relocation bracket for the long style torque arm will help with making the car launch if you are looking to go that route.

Having a adj t/a give you the best of both worlds, you can tune you car to launch on on the street or the track. My car set up for the track would never hook on the street but with a few turns it changes everything:nod:

Justa Z, how do you know where to set your TA? Do you have a way to measure the angle? I am verry interested in finding out how to set the damn thing before i ever get one.

Hows a Tunnel mounted TQ Arm ??? Are they noisy ??

Kinda clunky cause you are eliminating the isolator bushing. It does transfer a lil more noise into the cabin too.

i drive mine 600 miles a week(working outta town)....its definately noisier but i got used to it in a week......it bangs when you load/unload the rear end

That load/unload clunk was annoying as shit the first few days. I actually thought there was something wrong/loose. After i rechecked everything twice, i was good w/ it.

Hardly notice anymore.
