that is what I said---------------------" MINIMUM 91 " ---91 Octane WILL NOT HURT A STOCK CAR AT 10:1 COMP. RATIO. Unless u r beating on it ALL the time...then u should run MINIMUM 94 Octane.

The computer quickly detunes the engine if knock is detected, preventing damage. So 87 or even substandard fuels will run the engine. Just don't expect to get the best mileage or peak power.

Minimum 91 gives the best performance overall and is the design standard.

For everyone that likes to run higher than 91 if your car doesn't knock and doesn't pull any timming then 91 is the way to go. You car will make the most power at the point right before it knockes because it is able to use all the fuel..

I use 116 in all my stock cars for best power. When I want good MPG, I just switch them over to diesel. I've been doing this for about 10 years, it works great.

(wow I hope nobody actually takes that seriously!)

i use 93 all the time

if u add up how much u save by getting 87 you only save like 2.00. plus your putting crappier gas in your car

The majority of Oklahoma is 91. There are a few places where you can get 93, but they are few and far between. I run 91 in the Camaro and 89 in the daily driver. I spent some time in New Mexico, they had gas as low as 84 I believe. I was flabbergasted, had to resort to some Toluene ghetto-octane-boost to make it though. As for the fbodies, you can run 91 no problems. When you start changing the compression ratio, or adding boost you'll need a higher octane rating.

From my very limited knowledge aren't the stock LS1's 10.0:1 ratio? And inst it only after u pass 12.0:1 barrier you need to step up to 100 octane?

I used to only work with old carb motors, i only just got into the LS1 game. so anything new i can learn is a step in the right direction.
