Drag Racing Results - PRELUDE vs CAMARO!!!

hey everyone. heres one of my friends preludes on the track few days ago. finally a prelude racin an ls1 on the track! it was a real close race but the prelude took it.

Honda`s suck no matter how fast they are!!!!

I saw a Saturn run low 10's. (ok, they converted it to rwd and dropped a 350 in it, but still)

speed = money, doesn't matter what you're building. There are some imports that would outrun 90% of this board, but there are lots of people on this board that would make that Prelude look like it was dragging a boat anchor.

It runs decent, and that's a decent time for a lightly modded LS1. Was the LS1 stock internal? Just asking since some stock internal LS1's on here are running mid 11's with just bolt ons.

why would I lie about those cars, I personally know the owner of both of them? they happend to line up at the imports vs. domestics at MIR, the honda has been 10.6@ 138 while the maro has a cam,shorty headers,10 bolt,3:42 gears,28 inch tall tire and a 6 speed with a hurt clutch so yeah he runs like high 11's low 12's :D anyway the guy that won that class is another local guy and he won with a 10.08@15? with drag radials in a honda so yeah glen derty has some legit honda's as well as ls1's :devil:

they ran during qualifying but just the fastest qualifying time is recorded so the 11.5 wouldnt show up due to roger running a 10.7@143

Man, why would you doubt that the prelude won? Have you not ever been to the track? Everytime i go theres always a honda that runs an eleven or ten second quarter mile pass, so its not hard to believe.

Preludes would beat any of those non turboed. preludes with a h22 have 200hp with 4 cylinders and fwd. eclipse have 210 with AWD and turbo. the rest are jus pretty much crap. im not a big fan of civics but gotta Give preludes respect. After all, the have been hondas "big block" throughout the 90's.

I've footbraked my car a little too much a few times trying to get better 60's. And just end up spinning out of the hole with a 2.5-7 60'. I clearly remember running a 13.6 on a night I was churning out a few 12.3-4's because of that.

For all we know he could have been running lower boost since it was a qualifying round.

Not to criticize ... but why not have respect for any fast car? Even if its a Kia with an LS1 swap. On a side note, I will say the 4G63 in eclipses, talons, and EVOs are not known for their reliability

The Prelude is obviously making a lot of power. They don't have a lot of room for wide front tires. How does he get good enough traction to put it to the pavement?

I'd guess he's pulling 1.6-1.7 60's though

I had a 94 Prelude for my first car. I loved it. Almost sold it and bought an LT1 Camaro, glad i didnt. I started looking at F-Bodies again, always liked them and always loved V8s. Found a great deal on a 99 Z28. I have to say i love this car twice as much as my old Lude already. It just has full exhaust, rest is completely stock (lid will be on soon). My Prelude did handle a hell of a lot better, but i had pretty nice suspension on it. Im anxious to see how this Camaro will handle with better suspenion. Ive always liked F-Bodies and good American muscle (not Mustangs) more than any import, but i do like some imports. Preludes are way cooler than Celicas and Tiburons and crap, those suck. Preludes are nice little cars. Hell mine with bolt ons rolled a 95 Mustang GT 5.0. It was ugly for him. It was my buddy and he had no excuses. He had some skinny chick in his car and i had my buddy whos 200+lbs. And Mustangs use the excuse that we have bigger displacement... My 2.2L rolled a 5.0L, whats their excuse for that?

But yea, you can make anything fast, but fast V8s are so much better than whiny little 4 bangers, no matter how fast they are. I guarantee that Prelude, and most other 4 bangers that fast spend a hell of a lot more money to get there than say LS1s do. You should have some respect for fast 4 bangers though.

Meesa got a 4G63 FWD. Probably puttin down about 250hp (maybe). Its a fun car but FWD is no fun at the track. Especially with wheel hop that makes your wipers turn on.

either way... looks like the prelude was rollin outwhen i owned a 95 prelude I looked into building the block for high boost but the price tag was pretty bad. To run forged internals the block needs to be resleeved which is a good chunk of change. To make 500hp you'd have to drop a good $7-8k into the engine alone. 500hp in an LS1 costs maybe $3500... which is why I sold the prelude for the T/A and havn't dropped a penny into it :( Grant it the prelude weighs much less but will run the same times given the traction issues.

Honda's are good cars but at the drag strip i think most of us on this site would rather see a f body or vette or anything RWD leaving front wheels up off the line,It gives that Daaaamn factor from the start to the finish + the sound of a V8 spinning up to 6,000 7,000 rpm or more:D

I don't hate Honda, I just hate FWD. One of my favorite rides is my RWD Honda (CBR1100XX). You have to love high 10sec 1/4 times AND almost 40mpg. It seems much more efficient than my GTO or Silverado.
