What gear should I look into running with my current setup?
trying to get a new rear end for my 02 SS M6 and with that trying to decide what gear to go with... its street raced frequently and taken to the track often but i know i want to stay 3.73-4.30 but theres alotta gears between the 2 what are you guys running? i want to try to stay away from having to shift to 5th gear in the 1/4 mile.

Well I have 4.10's in my M6, and 4th gear tops out at about ~110MPH. So if you're trapping faster than 110MPH in the 1/4, you're going to have to shift into 5th. Only way around that would be to get bigger tires/wheels (I have 285/40/17's), or just go with 3.73's.
If you have an aftermarket short shifter though going into 5th isn't too bad, its pretty much like going into 3rd. I have a Pro 5.0 and its excellent. If you have ths tock unit or the stock Hurst though, forget about it lol.

Check Here for f-body gear ratios....it will tell you what speed you will be going in a certain gear at a specified RPM, based on the rear gear ratio you select.
if you really, really don't want to shift into 5th gear, ever, i'd go no higher than a 3.73 gear....and this will also help with your gas mileage on the highway vs. 4.10+ gears.

What are you figuring for the redline?? If you're figuring on 6200RPM (rev limiter) in 4th, then 117 should be correct.
