a LOT!! Sorry I can't be of more help. I can tell you if you were a 33 year old male getting collector car insurance through Hagerty for your 2001 Camaro SS it would be about $300/year

Some companies will give you a quote online after plugging in your information, progressive is supposed to give quotes from other companies too - at least that's what they advertise. www.progressive.com It's going to be expensive unless you can get added on to another policy, like your parents if that's possible.

There are alot of variables that need to be looked at when getting insurance.

#1 Drivers History
#2 Location
#3 Type of Vehicle
#4 Distance driven daily....
#5 Collision or just liability
#6 If you got collision, Whats your deductable?

List goes on and on man..............

They also look into your credit. Credit will also determines how much you are going to pay per month.

hey it blows trying to insure these things. i bought a 99 trans am in 2004 at age 18. i got a co-sign on the car which enabled me to put the car on my parent's policy. still $180 per month, however on my own it would have been $3000/6 months. some people have too much pride for that but i didnt have an option. anyways I hope the purchase of the 99 Z works out for you

Ouch i feel for you bud i've payed up to 1800$ every 6 months Liability coverage to drive a 94 nissan pickup myself Insurance is a major racket for sure. It is all in how the agent wrights the policy. If they do not like you or don't want to help you then you will pay through the nose.

??? What does your insurance company consider a collector status car? Is it limited to a certain number of miles per year?

I was payin bout 2k a year on a CRX when I was your age and that's been awhile. You're either gonna have to get bout 10 years older and married pretty quick or deal with it.
I don't know any other way around it.

I own 3 vehicles at 24. I have 2 chevy pickup trucks worth no more than 5k and an 02 z28. My insurance is $120? a month. If I just have the car its 300 a month. I would buy a beater to drive daily or just sit.

Hagerty does not have specific mileage restrictions, but they are quite thorough in their pre-approval process to make sure the vehicle is very limited use. If you just have a 4th gen Fbody and a daily driver they probably won't approve you for their insurance. I have 3 other collector cars insured with them along w/the '01 SS. It is worth a try though if your F-body is not a daily driver; it is obviously MUCH cheaper

I feel your pain. Was in the same boat about 12 years ago when I wanted to buy a 96 impala ss. Because it had those letters SS on it I was going to be paying $320/mo. I ended up buying a '94 9C1 police pkg. caprice w/the same LT1 motor and turned it into an impala ss clone. The funny thing is my insurance on the "Caprice" was only $157/mo. just because it wasn't an SS and I didnt tell them what I did to it.
Point is, maybe you should go by a 6cyl., get a used LS1 motor/tranny pkg. off of ebay/craigslist and make your own z28 clone. I bet the total cost would still come to less than a real LS1 Z28 and you'd pay less than 1/2 for the insurance. Just a thought. Good Luck!

The smart thing to do is this:

A) Maintain a clean driving record.
B) buy a beater

I did the following, and for full coverage, 500$ deductible with strong coverage (100/300 yadda yadda)

My rate: 575 / 6 mo.

If you have a beater: You can get good gas milage, always have a running vehicle, and have downtime for the major mods that you may not be able to do in a day.

It's a thought.

But I saving 1500 a year by keeping my Jeep.

And that's about what I would've been paid for selling it.

Progressive will give you a good idea to look for.

It's how I saw Allstate had good rates.

All the companies use a set of variables to ID the customer they want. the Progressive is going to show you which profile you fit, ergo, where the rates will save you money.

More than likley it will be AIG, State farm, Allstate, or Nationwide.

So could you buy a $150 beater and tell them its you're daily and the fbody is a weekend car, and the insurance will go waaay down?

Probably a 1k beater would be believable.
Mine is listed as 7.5k per year for the Jeep, an 6k for the TA.

Again, this worked for SURE for me and a couple others.

shopping for the best rates is your job. Just remember you want reliable coverage, and a company that won't screw you. I've seen that from Nationwide and Allstate, and that's where i focused my efforts at finding a good rate.

My dad was PISSED when my insurance on the TA was only 50$ a year more than his Sebring.
(I am 21, and single [engaged]).
