Default Question about marking compound

Okay, I'll keep it short and sweet... Does marking compound need to be cleaned off the gears? Or is it made to just remove its self and blend into the gear oil after its all put back together?

You can leave it on, OEM gears are fully coated when assembled. The compound will disipate over time.
