Default Gear Size

My dad has a 98 Camaro SS A4. I was wondering what is the stock differential gear size.

Is there a way of checking what gears I have without looking on the door for code?
My car is an 01 A4, but its not the stock rear. It gave up on me at around 60k mi. It was replaced with one from an 02 M6 car. How do I find out what gears it has???

if its from an m6 it should be 3.42, unless they have been changed.
