Exclamation BMR Turbo style high-clearance K-member will not work with APS twin F body kit

I am in the middle of my install and I just found out that the BMR Turbo style high-clearance K-member will not work with the APS twin turbo kit for the F Body

I know this qustion came up on at least one other thread here so I wanted to post this up

BMR is sending me the correct K member as soon as it can be powder coated
I was trying to have the car running by this weekend for a local cruise in that I go to but it was not ment to happen

Oh well such is the fun of modifying a car

Why did you think that the high clearance K member would fit?

I did not know if it would fit or not. I asked the people at BMR when I got the k member and they said it would fit. I had thought that in a year or 2 I may build my own twin kit and the extra room would be nice,

How would they know unless thya have done a twin turbo install? The entire twin turbo system was developed around the regular K member so it does not surprize me in the least to hear that the system does not fit with the high clearance K member.

Good luck with your install,

Peter

I took it that way too Save some people some headaches if they were thinking the BMR Turbo K member "might be a lil better" for this set up.

Good post Darren

It makes sense that a turbo car might use a turbo K-member. It is thoughtful to try and help others from making this mistake.

That's weird. I would have thought the turbo kmember would have more room also. What part is touching? Good post for others.

I'm going to guess it's the box for the rear a arm mount. Just like all the regular tubular k members hit with the Incon kit.

Has anyone tried the regular UMI K-member? I believe they have two as well now.

where the outer twin bars were straight on the standred on and the High clearance one is curved
that is right were the discharge pipes from the turbo needs to go
on the driver side you may be able to work around it but the passanger side it actually hits the turbo and the triangle shaped hole is to small to fit the rubber tube through

it does give a lot of room around the AC
but with the APS if you re clock it you still can't get around the piece
I guess you could make new turbo to intercooler pipes and make it work
