Default What is a T56 with <40K miles on it worth?

I thought some of the guys that have bought used transmissions might be able to help me out.

I'm considering selling the T56 that's in my Camaro. How much can I get for it? It's still in the car and works perfectly.
(2001, 38,800 miles)

Just the transmission and bell housing.

Thanks,
Hilton

1200 wouldnt be out of the question but it all depends on the demand at the moment and given the season. Christmas is a hard time to move stuff.

I priced some through a salvage yard we use through work and they are crazy expensive they wanted $1850.00 for one with 136000 miles and 2250.00 for one with 72000 miles that seems to be a good price to me with that low of miles.

I almost always have a "friends price" and an "others price" lol...I'd let a friend have it for $1100, and I'd put it up for sale for $1400 OBO

I have seen them sell for anywhere from $500 to $1500. I think that is probably a reasonable price range. Anything above that does not seem to sell well. $500 is a really good deal, and $1500 is a somewhat reasonable price if you want to wait a little while to sell it. I am actually looking for one now. If you are willing to be in the $500 to $750 range, I would probably buy yours now.

I would need to get enough from it to rebuild the M12 I've got, otherwise it wouldn't make sense financially.

For the trans you mentioned, the best two places to sell it quickly would be here or Ebay. On Ebay it's going to go for about a grand, I'd ask the same for it here. Although salvage yards will ask way more, your not a salvage yard and people won't pay a private sell what they would pay a business. Wierd.....

I got my 05 GTO T56 with a B&M shifter and a 6 month warranty for 900 bucks from a scrapyard. Look on car-part.com and sometimes you will find good deals floating around. Thats where I got mine.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'm going to ask $1500 for it and leave it in the car so that it can be test driven. I can't rebuild the M12 until I sell the T56 anyway, so I might as well leave it in the car so that I can drive it.
