Why are LS1 valve springs so damm hard to perfect?
I am very confused. SBC's have been around forever, and the newer LT1, LS1 have been out a while. Why is it so hard to make a spring that will safely hold .620 lift or around there for the LS1? I am wanting to go pretty big on the lift, but I am having doubts about what springs to run. I know the basic 2, 918 and Isky 295, but what else is out here? Manleys, rev duals, how are they? Some constructive input would be kewl.

Hey Pro Stock:
So you owned an iron blocked big-cubed stroker, right?
If you had to go with the stroker again, would you go iron or aluminum?
Cost is definately a factor for me...
did the car handle like an LT1 iron block F-body?
why are so many against a "boat ancor" iron block?

why do you want so much lift?
These are both close to .600 lift and I want to be over safe if that is a word. .595 is DAMM CLOSE to the max lift of the 918, so I dont want them. I called MTI about what springs THEY use in their S1 package and they said it was a custom setup with dual springs. Something like $430 for the springs, retainers, new cup locators, and new valve guides. Then my LS6 heads would have to be machined too allow them to fit. This is not a bad option, just an expensive one. I will hold out a little longer and see.

no only the heighth, but the width, most people don't want to go with a 1.46 or 1.55" spring. plus, all the LS1 guys like really fast ramp rates.

What installed heighth for the springs you are looking at Bear?
I went with valves that were .100 longer than stock to get the installed heighth that I needed to get 145 closed seat pressure with my Crane single springs.

LNHjhf nvksguvmn jvj jgo] mgtu u v ]sjiu=? LOL I am only slightly knowledgeable as some can attest to. I know enough to be dangerous but not enough to be helpful. JPR is doing the motor, and he is looking into some alternatives for him as well. He just broke an Isky 295 and I already broke one way back when with my original G5. John u should talk to Joe if u need specifics. Thanks for trying.
