Default when do gears start to hurt

i have a 2001 camaro z28with auto trans. I was hoping to do something so i can get a little quicker from lets say a 25 to 40 roll. I heard gears help alot but would it be agood idea for me to get them if most of my races are from a roll up to like 100-110

Yeah you should be fine with gears, they will actually help you get up to that point alot faster. You can change out to 3.73s since your an auto, or you can also check out 4.10s. But im not sure how autos react to 4.10s so i say 3.73s. Hopefully someone who has an A4 with gears can chime in with some info.

Depends on tire size as well. I would say 3.90's, 4.10's would work with a taller tire i.e 27" or 28"

373s are more run from 20 and under. Car wont downshift above 60 now, use to be 70 with 323s.
