Gears & Axles - PLZ HELP. whats wrong???

ok today all of the sudden the tranny started to lock up while driving... it wouldnt let me put it in all gears...NO grinding what so ever............

If i shut the car off then i can put it in gear again.. ??? so now i can only put it in 1st and 4th all the time and the rest of the gears once in a blue moon...
