Default Gauge opinions, thinking Nexus

I'm looking for a couple of gauges that match the factory firebird ones. Black with red blacklight at night. The only ones that seem to fit the profile are the Autometer Nexus line. They are damn spendy, but if that's all there is I guess that's what I'll get. Anyone know of any other gauges that fill the bill. Looking for a trans temp and a wideband.

if it were me i would get the led kit in blue from the sponsor on here and then get the cobalt gauges. the nexus gauges are pretty expensive.

I'm kinda in the same boat as you, I'm going to be needing a few gauges soon as well... i was looking at the nexus gauges, and it sucks that you need that controller box or whatever just to get em to work.

That being said, i think im going the the autometer pro comps.
A guy i work with has them in his LT1 firehawk, with a red led in there, they look pretty good. I'm like you though, i'm a stickler to have matching gauges.

I was looking at doing the blue conversion as the guy above has suggested... but i like my red lights too much.

Hope this helps...

I hear ya, red lights are a must. My favorite color for guages, even if they weren't red stock they would be by now. I like the Pro Comps, but there not lit though the dial which is kind of a must for me. Anyone else have any ideas?

I have the JVC KD-G820. I matches great, the volume **** and all the buttens light up red and the screen and like a dark grey. I think if the screen was red it would be a bit overdone. Alot of the newer JVCs are like this. It looks great at night.

I was interested in this as well but I don't know if you can swap bulbs on that line of gauges. IMO the numbers dont match as well as the Nexus.

not bad, i didnt see infared listed as a spec so i dont think you could use it with your steering wheel controls tho

I wonder why it's not listed. It does have a remote and I have the PAX for my steering wheel controls.

I would think so but I'm not sure how these gauges are set up, seeing as they only light through the guage the bulb placement may be different then a standard gauge.

I just did some searching, and it appears that you CAN NOT change the color of the sport comp 2 gauges... the LED's are hardwired, and it looks like you just have 2 wires coming out to connect for the back lighting.

Yea I had a sneaking suspicion. Thank you very much for searching though.

So what if the LEDs ever have to be replaced?

I doubt they will ever need to be. LEDs last so long the gauge would probably need replacing before the LEDs.
