Default fuel pump-carb to f/i conversion

i may start out with a carb on my setup, then switch to f/i-i have used the aeromotive a1000 pump before, and they claim it can be used for f/i-has anybody done a switch using this pump
or if i started out using an in tank 255, can it be regulated down to 6 lbs, or would it kill the pump (maybe a return system would help it)
thanks

The carb pump won't ever supply enough pressure to run injection and if you cut a high pressure pump back to 6psi, it will probably die young. I have a Holley pump and regulator, for a carb, with about 10 miles on them. pm me if you're interested in them.

If I understand you correctly, you are asking if you can run a A1000 pump
with a carb.
Yes you can, but you MUST use a return style regulator system.
I ran mine with a -10 feed to the regulator and a -8 return line to the tank.
Don't scrimp on the return line size or you will experience a problem
trying to keep the pressure low.
In my opinion, you might as well set the car up with fuel injection from the get go.
By the time you buy the ignition box required to run the coils etc, you could have picked
up a used PCM and wiring harness.
You can pick up stock intakes and rails dirt cheap too. Just a thought.

i know you can use the a1000 with a carb, i have one now feeding my procharged 70 with a 489 and csu carb-what i was thinking, since they claim it will also feed a f/i setup, go with that, but looks like it may not be able to handle the high pres.
i think trying to build my new setup and start out with f/i also is gonna be more than my mind can handle at once, so i was going to start with a carb-its gonna be procharged, and switch, thought the a1000 could do double duty
i kind of soured on getting f/i together after getting scamed on ebay for a new ls6 intake-prob out the money, but this guy is gonna have to keep looking behind, one day im gonna be there
just getting fuel rails, injectors, intake, wiring, ecu, im atwell over double a carb setup, plus tuning, etc

That sounds similar to my old setup, right down to the procharger
and A1000 pump.
The crazy midwestern temp changes made tuning the carb a real pain,
that is part of what has driven me to go turbo/EFI.
Depending on the fuel pressure required the A1000 is a solid performer
on a FI build up to about 800HP.
If you are going for big HP numbers with smaller injectors and high fuel pressure, then it may nose over sooner.
Some have got more out of it, but since I will be running E85 and 1000HP,
I will be either adding another A1000 or going with a belt driven pump.
Decide your ultimate HP goals and work a plan to get there.
I got lucky to sell my old set up for a reasonable price, but it usually
costs you quite a bit of money in losses when you sell stuff that you no longer need.
Good luck with the build!
