Automatic Transmission - Overheated computer trans not shifting????

My Car: 2001 Z28 4l60e

Well first off I had my whole transmission rebuilt about 2000 miles/5 months ago because i lost my 3-4 clutch pack. Well today 3/4 started slipping and pretty much burned up on my way home. The transmission is under warranty and I already spoke with the Co. that rebuilt it. He said they would look at it and probably cover the clutch pack, but that i'm probably going to have to replace my computer too. He's saying that the computer overheats and cause my trans to loose line pressure, causing the 3/4 to start slipping and to burn up. HAS ANYONE EVER HERD OF THIS???or am im being fed a bunch of BS

How did they determine that the computer is bad? Did they do tests on it?

After our lengthy conversation last night I walked over and spoke with Arvil Fowler, the owner of Xtreme Horsepower. He is the Tuner there. He has been Tuning these cars for many, many years now. He laughed when I relayed our conversation to him.

Like I said... either this guy knows something I don't or he is full of it. Glad to see you doing your homework here. Try to speak to a few more Tuners here in the D/FW area today... see what they have to say.

If you are worried about using that shop again give me a call... we might be able to put a win / win deal together. I know you are in a bind, I'll see what I can do to help out.

No not yet, they said is was common. But I have never herd of it and neither has anyone else I've talked to.


Thanks Gilbert, I dont know what you have in mind, but I am hesistant to continue using this shop but at the same time i'm kind of connected at the hip with them.

I to think someones feeding you a line , Though I have seen bad PCMs before they ussually cause irratic shifts or some other function not to occur, I have not heard of the Overheating thing.
