2.5 or 3" I-Pipe & Cut-Out?
Having my TSP ORY welded on friday and curious of what to do. The fit of the Y is really bad and coming up short at the I pipe.
Should I have the old 2.5" I removed and a 3" installed to match up with the Y? Any pros or cons to this? I plan on keeping the muffler and tips.
There is a cut-out on the exhaust. It is located right at the bend where the I turns into the muffler, and is not capped.
I've read to place the cut-out after the Y, or before the hump over the axle?
I understand after the Y, but why before the axle hump?
I like where the cut out is at now, very accessible, any pros or cons to moving it if I plan to install it on the 3" pipe?

Advice anyone?
I was probably gonna do the 3" I pipe back from the Y into the muffler, and put the cut-out where it is now, any one wanna chime in with their 2$ cents?

Last time I checked, the front end of the I-pipe and the back end of the y-pipe was 2.75" - not 2.5" or 3". Might want to double check what you have versus what you think you have. If you have the option of having someone fab up a full 3" setup, then I'd say go for it.

Thank you! I am probably gonna have the 3" pipe put in.
I was not sure if there were any down sides to this over the stock size and what do you think I should do about the cut-out?
Why do people put them right before the axle on the I?

I think it's because there is a hump in the floor that will allow for a little better fit. If there is clearance, I'd try to see about putting the cutout as close to the rear of the Y-pipe merge as possible. I'm going to try to do this when I fab' up a stainless Y-pipe and I-pipe. I have a Borla with a QTEC right now that is a nice, clean alternative.

1) it avoids the exhaust gas making the turn to go over the axle.
2) it is pretty far back so the noise and fumes aren't right under your butt like when the cut-out is place just after the Y merge.
