I talked with Jim @ Transformance about a tranny setup with t-brake. Sounded pretty good, now I am to the point of trying to decide which stall and which type of torque converter to get. From what I have seen there are like 9.5" and some 11" converters? I would ideally like to get a torque converter that will be fine for more power than i currently have and for FI in a few years.

Whats your take on this? 3400stall? I know it depends on the power you are making etc.., but i will be making significantly more than I am now in the next few years. Any input would be appreciated!

Thanks

Oh yea...I bought a 3.5" driveshaft when I got my 9" from EPP, all i need is a different slip yoke? M6 DS and 4l80E DS lengths are close?

Well since noone responded I just received a yank py3600 for my 4l80e which im hoping will be in for the new year. I make around 360 on motor unlocked with a 4l60e and a 4000 stall. For your setup in sig im guessing around a 3600 stall might be good depending on how much you street drive it. For FI in the future probably around a 3600 will be good also. I talked to yank about which converter I should choose for the new setup because the SS4000 was alittle to loose for the spray and they recommended a PY3600 because I told them I was going to up the shot to try and make 175-200rw.

THanks man. Yea i was kinda thinking arounda 3600 or so. THe 4000 was too loose for more power? Make it stall higher? Nice ride.
Didnt you post about your truck 700r4 crapping out? My bro is selling my old one i dunno what u are lookin at spending...
its in the non lsx parts under my name

Yea the 4000 was starting to get alittle loose on the bigger shot flashed around 5500-6k. Im trying to get somtin alittle tighter and see how that does. Im hoping it works out ok. Yea ill probably wait until the summer to get a 700r4 most likely a junkyard one for like 80 bucks I gotta get this 4l80e in... Thanks anyway.

Do you daily drive it alot? Very streetable? I was looking at that price doesnt seem awful but i think its well worth it. What do you do about a flywheel/flexplate then?

Yank makes the converter to go from 4l80e-ls1 bolt pattern thats how mine was made. Im planning on using the stock flywheel.

And yes, my wife even drives the car whenever she wants. I have no issues with sending her to the mall in my stalled auto 408. That should tell you something.

Is the sc3400 still a YANK? I saw some sc3000's on their site and they didnt say lockup, but they said extreme HP for turbos?
Anybody learned with these?

Thanks again.

yes they are both yank lockup. the sc3400 is a larger converter to handle more power. its in the truck section of the site i believe

I just got the Vigilante 9.5" 5-disc lockup, 2800 stall for my build. It's supposed to be rated for lockup under WOT to 1600HP on the 4L80E. I won't get near that but will probably hit the 1Krwt mark. Haven't tried it so no results yet. Looking like January. But it definitely has a rating that leaves room to grow!

I will have to look that up. Yea its always good to have beefed up components for future expansion...
Good luck!

i'm running a vig 3400 w/ the 80e in my 'vert. works well on the street, as well as the strip. 346 w/ F1C Procharger. the biggest thing to keep in mind is trans temps... no matter how good the trans is built, if it gets hot it will fail. the higher the stall, the more heat it will build, especially on the street. i fabricated some cooler line adapters to go to -6AN and ruma B&M supercooler with a thermostatic fan. never have to worry about it.
