Default Another Discount Tire Mishap..

About a year ago I took my car in to the Discount in Katy, at Mason & I-10. They raised my car without using blocks and bent/cracked my fender pinch welds. I had them pay to replace them as they seriously fucked em up and my fenders were flaring out on either side and looked pretty gay. I had them fixed and guess what? THEY DID IT AGAIN at a different time.. F'in unbelievable.

I guess the moral here is: watch them lift your car and make damn sure they raise it with blocks.

I always take my tires/wheels off and bring them if I need something done. They can't screw the car up, you can leave them there, and you don't need a ride from someone. 90% of the time I'm just bringing the rears anyway.

I don't think my car would be able to drive up on one of those ghetto lifts, and my exhaust would hit my driveshaft if they tried and the suspension was unloaded lol.

Yeah, thats why I'm lucky the guy at the discount tire here in Arlington that I go to drives a 2000 Z28. He doesn't even use the lift on my car, he always jacks it up with a floor jack. And he uses my subframe connectors to as a jacking point.

That's exactly right! They literally just drive the car onto the lift and raise it without even checking to see if the car is on the lift straight. Well most of the time that is.. Just like you guys, I love my car and it PISSES me off when something happens to it especially when it could have EASILY been avoided!!!!

Same **** happened to the right front at a Goodyear place first time I changed wheels.
I watched 'em do it too because I didn't know about it either.

Wasn't too bad though and another, smarter employee straightened it out.

I blame GM on this one.
That fender pinch thing bullshit is a ****-poor design and just asking for trouble.

Probably designed by the same guy that decided on the glue for the sail panel.

well most cars have a pinch weld right there and its a good lift point on damn near any car but the problem is, is our F-bodys have a pad right there at the front, which is were most shops try and lift it, and the fact that there is a little pad makes it look like a jacking point but if you look close it says, dont jack here.

Ive had two techs do that ****. I was liek COME ON ITS SAYS NOT TO DO THAT!!

I noticed it when the car was on the lift!! I always look underneath the car to make sure it's properly lifted but for some damn reason, this time, the guy I was talking to seemed like he knew what he was doing. I went to the rr and came back to find my car lifted incorrecty AGAIN!

They done even need blocks, they just need to raise it on the frame. Sounds like they were using the fender to lift it.

Anytime I go to discount I always tell the salesperson make sure they watch out for the fenders and then I go and watch them lift it. that **** happened to me at a brake shop in my 98 but I didn't notice it till way later. Also to me it's hard to believe GM built them that way. Anyway glad you got them to pay.

Most of those kids at Discount don't care. It's not their car so they don't try to be careful or pay attention. Discount bent one of my wheels. The kid dropped it on the ground. I sat there and watched him goofing off and drop the wheel.

There were a couple of guys up at the local Discount that were always careful and I always asked if they were there before I went up there. Once I was there I asked to have them do the work.
