Platinum plugs are supposedly good for 80,000~100,000 miles. That being said I'd still change them at least at 50,000

Copper plugs like the NGK tr55 are good for about 20,000 miles. But I change them at least once a year.

Wow, you guys must not drive much. I change my TR55s every 4 oil changes or six months, which ever comes first. Along with the plug wires.

I have had my NGK TR6's since 2003 and they have never misfired. However, I only drive about 5,000 miles per year.

Props for your determination, but honestly, you could be saving a lot of money with no ill effects to the car.

Plugs are what, $1.99 each ... so $16 about? And my plug wires are lifetime warranty Kragen wires, I do not pay for them mearly exchange them for new ones. So $16 for a tune up every six months or so isn't too bad I think. She's driven hard (autocrossed, road raced, drag raced, etc ...), to me it's worth it.

i'll never use stock plugs. on my last 2 cars...when i pulled the plugs at just over 50K miles, 4 of the 8 plugs (on both cars...96Z and 99Z) were missing the platnum puck. the gap was something like .080 without it.

i have NGKs in it now...planned to change it at around 25K miles of use. figure i'll do it when the car hits 75K...they were new at around 50K i think.

although that may take a few more years to reach.

then again, i plan to do heads soon. i guess i'll do them then.

i've pulled them a few times, they seem fine.

NGK TR55's gapped at 45-50 with nothing but motor and NGK TR6's gapped at 35-38 with spray. NGK's have been said to be the best performance plug for your money. change them out once a year or every 15,000miles. I run the TR6's and noticed a difference.

I use TR6's and they have been changed 2 times since late 2003. Although I only have like 6K miles since then. I have not changed my wire since 2002 or 2003...and I do not have any issues firing...........as long as the battery is not dead from having the car sit for so long!!! LOL
