Default Anyone use Dart heads?

I was wondering if anyone uses Dart heads? what is your combination and what kinda power are you making? I am looking for a set of heads but i cant decide what ones to get, or just have my stock heads ported. My cam is a 231/237 112LSA .595 ex .605 int.. with full exhaust and FAST 90/90, thanks

Had the 205's with a 220 cam and trapped 109mph with a 4000lb sedan
You might want to consider the 225cc ones with that cam.

225 cc? hmm I thought on stock displacement LS1's with cam and bolt ons 205's were the rule of thumb... anyone else use them?

used 225 heads with low 230's cam, and it makes 460+rwhp, 415+trq.

From what I have read here and interperated from other post is that you need the larger cc versions to make any decent power where as with maybe a AFR or TFS head you can do good with a 205-215cc head. I personally have been eyeing TFS's but thats just my 2 cents.

same setup as me.... this is really something to consider, eventually i want to do a Procharged 370, and i could re use the 225's.. i was always told to stay away from them on stock displacement bolt on/ cam cars, but this changes everything... who else is doing this?

I also have the 225's. I don't have any numbers to post up yet but it feels very strong from about 3k on up.

The builder I talked to recommended the 225's over the 205's as well. He can get me a great deal on them and has installed several sets. Surprised me too. I would love some AFR's be he can save me about grand on set up heads so thats how i'm leaning right now with a low 230's duration and 600ish cam.

the dart 225's are a very nice head for the price. I made 430/396 and 350 tq. at 3k rpms, with a 228/232 cam, and a ls6 intake. I thought that was very good, with a ported fast i would have made around 460 which sounds great to me. I just had them cnc ported by dart for my new iron 370 and went with a much bigger cam, but unfortunatly i dont have any numbers yet since i finished the set up only a week before i left for school.
But i'll be sure to post numbers when i do.

if you are going to run the 225cc heads from afr you have to go with there small bore 225 heads, and to be honest the 205's would be the best bet from AFR. I'm sure Tony Mamo from there would say the same thing

Dart heads got a bad rap when they first came out and TSP did some porting on them and they weren't done right and burned oil. For that reason, I don't think a lot of people run them. I was considering them when I bought the AFR 205's. I definitly have no regrets about my choice.

There desent casting, but I think there better values out there. I local we tuned with a MS3 gained somthing like 15-20whp over stock Ls6 heads, you can call the shop and ask mike he might remember or PM me on NYspeed and Ill get more info when Im there. The car still runs the same darts after getting some hand port work, and made 845wheel after last dyno tune on a 408.
