How can I quite down my GMMG exhaust?
Car came with Kooks LT's, offroad Y, and GMMG exhaust but the car is way to loud for my taste what can I do the quite down the car? I don't want to spend that much money so cats are a NO. Let me know what you guys recommend.
I'm also considering trading the GMMG exhaust for a Borla catback complete with plates. I just added a thread regarding this in the Texas section.

I think GMMG is the best sounding exhaust out there and they ALL sound like *** without cats to me. SO even though you said you don't want cats.....I really really think there isn't really a better option for sound than to put the cats on. A bullet may work, but I don't know if may resonate and make a drone.

But be forewarned - a Hooker or something like that with ORY will be quiet, but still be raspy.

I understand that. It sux that he has a catback that was pretty high end to begin with & then had to drop a bunch of $$$ to fix it so he liked it. I have heard stock & modded cars with GMMG, I love the way it sounds. My buddy with a 418 just bought one for his Camaro, I can't wait to hear it on his car!

I said that because you can easily find dual 3" cats for $50. I did and they work perfectly. No rasp in my exhaust. The GMMG is tough to quiet down. The only options are cats or some form of bullet style muffler. Cost is about the same. You could sell the GMMG and get another cat-back, but you'll still have that raspy sound with headers. I drove my car for a week with a 3" cat on the passenger side and none on the driver's side and it still had rasp. When I added the cat to the driver's side it went away and sounds nice now.

No, it's more true to say that I have $800 LT's/Y. I drove around on my GMMG with manifolds for a couple of years and it was fine. I got the XS headers with ORY and that was when the fun began. It was both too loud and WAY too raspy. So I had a Y pipe made with cats and Flowmaster merge, and it was still too raspy. Put the powerpack in the I and that really helped. The resonator tips removed the last hints of tinniness from the sound.
