Im almost a hundred percent positive all 50 states have some kinda emmission laws its just how strick they are, obviously Cali is worse then most but still you will probally fail with an ORY unless you just get lucky and they dont check or know what there doin....
You might wanna post in the regional section to get a better more specific response, Thats one of the reasons I gotta 94 and got rid of my LS1's is b/c in NC its easier to get OBD1 and older cars through emmissions opposed to OBD2

Louisiana does not enforce their emissions laws. You might run into a few inspections places where they actually look and inspect the vehicle by the book, but most do not. I wouldn't worry about it until something is said about it. I've had mine inspected for the past two years with no cats.

I've never even had my lights or blinkers checked, but since my usual spot closed I'm sure it'll be a little more thorough next time.

me and about a dozen f-bodies, and probably another 6 or 7 mustangs in lafayette are ORY and haven't been told a damn thing for our exhaust. i get inspected no problem and haven't had a cop even bat an eye about it. hell, i had dumped duals and cops wouldn't even make a comment about it.

Well it's been awhile since I actually had to go through the whole ordeal. I have a buddy that takes care of me.
What happen to them doing the 'real time' inspections? They hooked up to your exhaust, checked your gas tank, and plugged into your car to check for SOS lights. Do they not do that anymore?

Cop friend of mine told me it's louisiana law to have cats.. but i figure the only way they can check is to actually get under there and look... http://www.eoeforums.com/images/smilies/new/bad.gif

Baton Rouge is the only area that I know of that checks for emissions, and I think it' s just East Baton Rouge Parish. Pollution there is higher because of all the refineries. I was pulled over several times, when I was running an off-road pipe and a cut-out, and was not told anything about my exhaust. My ex-wife had the local PD pull up on her, when she picked me up from work, and that was only because a certain asshole mechanic in town has his nose up everyone' s ass, bitching and moaning all the damn time. Other than that, the only other cop that said anything, was a Captain at the Sheriff' s Office, he ragged me about everything illegal about my car, but he was only fucking with me. He told me, he wouldn' t ticket me for it.
If you' re running the ORP into a cat-back, you' ll be perfectly fine! :thumb:

I lived around West Monroe, La. until about eight years ago and we always got tested on anything 1980 or newer on a yearly basis. It was mostly visual, but I've had the sniffer pulled out a few times. Cars that were 1979 or older only had a safety inspection. Of course, it allways helps to know the right people.
