Short Stick Question
OK so i have done some research and have narrowed it down to either the UMI or Lou's Short Stick. Both i like due to the slight bend toward the driver, my question is- Is Lou's worth the money over the UMI? They both seem the same, UMI is cheaper so is there a quality or performance difference??? I have an aftermarket hurst and want pretty much the shortest stick i can get on there without any problems. Let me guys know what you think.
thanks a ton!
ryan
EDIT: I just thought I would add the prices. LSS-$47 UMI-$26

Ive been looking around and found Lou's page.......the LSS on an aftermarket hurst looks like it has an insane amount of angle to it, id like some angle but that looks like a ton.
Anybody have LSS on an aftermarket hurst? Hows it feel when driving?

i've had my LSS on 2 cars...both equipped with the factory Hurst shift unit.
on my 96Z the shift **** came very close to console when in 2/4/6th gears
i later installed an MBA shift ****, which is designed to shorten your shift stick even more (hole drilled deeper in). with that ****, and the LSS there was actually contact on the console. just barely, not enough to affect function or to break the console, or affect shifting. the stock **** worked fine, as would the Hurst **** (factory).
installed the same shifter on my 99z along with the MBA ****...the redesigned console has no problems accomodating the short stick. there is plenty of room.
i measured the throw on the base model stock shifter and stick...from 1st to 2nd the **** moved about 8"
with the hurst shifter (factory) and the LSS, the **** only moved 3.5" from 1st to 2nd.
HUGE improvement in travel...and in firmness!!!
these pics are of my 99z...LSS, hurst shifter, MBA ****....trans in neutral
another view...stock lenght (with hurst shifter..in neutral)
